If I am reading this correctly, it seems he is worried that each and every post, and its content, is left solely up to you to determine if it is or is not "mindless". Granted, some people intentionally post things just to get a reaction, but I can see a few genuine people being banned as well. It would be nice to at least get a chance to explain the post and maybe make amends before being banned.

I disagree. Look at Wild's ever changing signoff in that post. What he's asking in his own humorous and sometimes smarmy manner is whether we can pre-check all postings for him in advance. My answer is, "Yes, if someone needs that much hand holding". You can submit your proposed posts direct to me and I'll respond as I'm able. Personally, I don't think anyone here needs to be baby-sat in that manner, but if some of you feel you do, I'll accommodate. Fair enough?

As to me being the sole judge of what's "mindless", this has always been the case. From the Policies:
As we can never convey a philosophy through a few rules, we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to edit or delete posts and/or to revoke Membership.

This is hardly a purge and it's certainly nothing new. I just wanted to make it public. I can't recall the last time we banned someone who agreed they had it coming....but this does not relieve us of the responsibility to make such decision.

PS: Note that the post count in L&P has significantly decreased in the past few days. I'd argue this is not because people are holding their tongues on substantive comment. Rather, we've all been reminded to "Think Twice, Post Once". I personally believe the Signal:Noise Ratio is far better than a week ago.
