Never too cold to go to the range

We have roses blooming in our yard, mowed the lawn yesterday, temps in the mild range at night, in the comfort range during the day, no snow to trudge through at the shooting range, central heat barely kicks on, blood does not congeal, no snow to shovel, no chains on the tires, and the food is delicious: move to southeastern Louisiana.

I just looked up the average temps in Louisiana....

I think you're right.... 54 in January, 82 in July....

Seems a little moist down there but I could live without winter.

Average temp 54 in January??? Now that's just not fair! Ahhh, but don't you wish you had some frigid range stories to tell???

I love the snow and love to shoot. Put the two together and I'm in heaven. Too Bad the DMV area has seen next to nothing snow wise. Hoping to see some tomorrow in MD.

here in upstate ny we've caught a break this winter. most days the temp has been in the 20's and no snow to climb through so far.

It was great, I got to the range 3 times last week... which is pretty unusual for January in VT.

I really like my Uplula mag loaders, they sure are handy in cold weather.

I'm not complaining about the mild winter so far, and I've lived here long enough to know that we could get whacked in Feb and March yet.

I like shooting in the cold and snow. I dislike shooting in the cold and wind. Cold, fine. Wind, fine. Colt + wind, not so fine.

i don't mind a little snow, but climbing though waist deep snow drifts to set up targets at 50 to 100yds is a pain. today i went out the only thing to watch for was ice no snow anywhere, but like the people from across the from me in vt said feb and mar. could be a bear at the range.

The only problem I've had with shooting in the cold is trying to reload a mag with numb fingers.

That's when I had to finally quit. When it gets to the point where your dumping the bullets out of the tray and trying to pick them up with a fist and shove them in the magazine ... well I guess it's time to finally head back home.

Nice winter here too, I can't wait to get out again. Almost made it out Saturday but as we were up for my Mother-in-Laws birthday, we skipped the range that day (snowmobile problems had us running late anyhow). Kids are off work in 2 weeks again, maybe we'll head out then. I need some more brass to reload. :)

Today's high is 73 and low 61. Eatcher hearts out!

I enjoy snow. I visit it when I want and leave ya'll to do the shoveling (and worry about pipes freezing, and keeping your engine block warm enough to start, etc.) I don't know how much shooting I would do in that weather. There are some parts I would prefer not to freeze off.

hey tailgator, the way you make it sound, you'd think Florida was some kind of nice place to live. As i say that here in NY its snowing and the temp is 25, and that is a nice day on the last day of Jan.

No, I don't want to live in Florida, tailgator... You can keep it.

I love the change in seasons, even if it does put a crimp in my shooting practice; just makes me appreciate it when I do go even more

got back from a couple of hours ago, wow what a nice day here in the north. i actually did not get frost bite of the fingers! 48degrees and sunny. so far it's been a good winter for shooting.

On more than a few occasions I have gone shooting, realized how cold it was, and opted to "warm up" with a few drills involving firing full magazines.

Happiness is a warm pistol on those days.

You southerners just go on enjoying those wimpy winters. I, on the other hand, will enjoy our lack of hurricanes and ample fresh water supply! :D

That said, I will say I HATE cold hands on cold metal, and shooting with gloves is just no fun. Winter tends to be shooting downtime for me as well and I'll admit to a certain level of stir-craziness at not being able to go outside and shoot. That's ok though, it makes the Spring all the sweeter!

It was cold this morning, 40 degrees, and I thought it was warmer, wore my vest and a long sleeved shirt. Still went shooting, had a good time.
