This post has nothing to do with your present situation. But somewhere reading all the replies I vaguely remembered a few stories I heard.
This first one is impossible to track down, but somewhere in the Tennessee Valley around 1820 there was a really tough guy who was caught for killing some citizens and who told the judge that he wouldn't let anybody ever run over him. So the judge ordered him to be hanged and his body buried under the busiest street in town so people would run over him forever.
The second one I heard was the one about Billy the Kid. Everybody knows it so I won't bother to elaborate. I once went through his museum in New Mexico and from his pictures he was a wormy young fellow.
I did track down this other story which is more modern and its worthy of a country song. If any of you are music writers this is a song waiting to happen. Makes me tearful just thinking about it. Poor misunderstood guy.
