Need ideas for a new 9mm

I already have a Glock 17 and Springfield EMP in 9mm and am looking for other non-1911 options in 9mm. Looking mostly for a range/fun gun, no interest in carry. I'm mostly a 1911 guy, so prefer that trigger feel, just want something different that shoots inexpensive ammo as I hit the range more often.

Budget is not a concern, owning something with a good trigger that affords a good deal of accurate shooting is the requirement. I've been considering Browning, CZ75, etc. but wanted to open myself up to other input from the community.

Fun range 9mm? My two choices would be what you listed, a CZ 75 (Or a P-07/09) or a Hi Power. I got lucky having a real nice trigger out of the box on my BHP. I also really liked the Walther P99 Ive shot a bunch.

What can be done to avoid the luck issue on either trigger? I see the CZ Custom shop offerings on the site that I'd expect deliver good results. Not sure if the same exists for the BHP.

Try a rock island 22tcm....comes with a 9mmconversion, so you can shoot either. The 22 is great fun, and both mine shoot the 9mm well also. And it is a 1911. The double stack feels good in my hand, not best grips, but good feel

There are a lot of very good 9mm's to choose from.

For a striker fired model, I'd start with the HK VP-9, Sig 320, Steyr M9-A1 or L9-A1, Walther PPQ or P99 AS. My experience is that the PPQ is exceptional accuracy wise with the Steyr right on it's heels. I also consider them to have the best out of the box triggers overall.

DA/SA models, I'd Look at the Sig 226 and Sphinx SDP. Both are well made with the SDP being the better of the two. The Sig is tops for DA/SA triggers with the Sphinx being better than average. You can add a $20.00 spring kit to the Sphinx from CGW which lightens it up a bit. My 226 has exceptional accuracy with the SDP being very good.

Another good gun for the range id the Beretta 92.

SAO Sig x5 in 9mm. I absolutely love it

Thanks for the input thus far. Not really considering revolvers, but thanks for that. For the Beretta 92 guys, does there appear to be enough value-add in the Wilson product to consider that?

My favorite range guns are CZ75/SP01 and Sig P226. I also have a Beretta 92FS which is great but I am more partial to the other two.

I recently purchased a new CZ SP-01 from Cajun Works with all the bells and whistles (Fiber optic sight target sights + CGW Pro Package which gives it crisp trigger and short reset) SA is 3 lb 11 oz and DA is 7 lb 11 oz. All together was about $1000 shipped to my FFL.

I would rent a stock 92FS/P226/CZ 75 or SP-01 and see what you like the best, once you decide that you can go order a nicer version of the model you like and get Wilson 92FS (back order it at least), a Custom worked CZ, or one of the dozens of P226 models.

I've owned a cz-75, ran great nice gun. For a decent budget pistol I just picked up a sig 2022 in 9. Great gun, reliable but still accurate and very cheap.

Thanks again guys for the input. I'm really digging the idea of the P226, I'll certainly seek one out for rental next time I go. The LGS happens to have a few on hand too it looks like, albeit in some goofy designs. Not sure tribal tats belong on a gun, but who knows, maybe it looks good in person.

As a range gun, you just cannot beat the Walther PPQ M2 with a 5" barrel.

I customized mine a bit, but it has been every bit as accurate as my custom 1911... It is just simply a perfect range/competition pistol.

Walther PPQ longslide with 5 inch barrel is REALLY sweet for a range/HD gun.

SIG P210 and P226 X-Five series are crazy nice if you want metal frame but at much higher price point than the PPQ longslide.

I did start into the X-Five, love the extra workmanship but will keep the Walther PPQ M2 on the radar too, sounds like a trigger I may like. Part of me is thinking I get the threaded barrel option too and hold for a suppressor. Silly idea, or fun?
