The regionality of the current shortage is perplexing to me.
This also intrigues me. Here in Northeastern OH, We have had 9mm, 223/5.56 and all other centerfire rounds for months now. While the prices are still $2-$5 higher per box than before the panic, I can walk into pretty much any gun or sporting goods store and have a multitude of choices, without purchase limits in some instances. Meanwhile, I still read and hear about people having to line up an hour before the store opens to buy a limit of 2 boxes of 9mm.
As for 22, around here you can buy most "higher end" ammo from most places (CCI Stingers and Eley), but I have not seen a brick on the shelf in a year. I am down to about 450 rounds of 22 left, and have been rationing it all year. It would be nice to grab a couple thousand rounds so I could resume my normal shooting levels, but in the meantime, I am just happy that I reload and have a nearly unlimited supply of centerfire as components are also back in stock everywhere around here. I refuse to pay exorbitant prices for 50 round boxes of 22 (yes, I realize that the price of a commodity is whatever people will pay, but I refuse to add fuel to the fire).
