My next crappy, cheap A, POS handgun!

And your desire to sport the most modern in Argentinian Tupperware,,,

Ah, on the opposite side of the slide from the P-22 marking is the Taurus logo, and name with MADE IN MIAMI FL. underneath it.
Made in the USA, not Argentina. However my other Taurus, a Judge Public Defender Poly was made in Brazil!!!

I don't buy crappy handguns anymore. What's the point? I have my eye out for a Diamondback DB9 - they cost about $300-350. It's a very well made pocket 9mm. I've examined one disassembled and I was surprised at some of the "goodies" I found. Why would I want two cheaply made pocket .22's instead of the DB9?

I'm batting a thousand,,,

And it's all incorrect. :o

Brazil, not Argentina,,,
I did know that some of the semi's are now made here in the USA.

I'll get it right eventually,,,
I know I will.

It's them danged aged brain cells.

Update

Well, I finally got to do a limited amount of shooting with my new PT22. It was just at an informal old dump in the woods, with no bench, or target stands. Just enough to run a few rounds through it for some first impressions. I fired several magazines of CCI MiniMags without a problem. One complaint I have after the first mag. the slide doesn't stay open after the last round allowing for some inadvertent "dry firing" which is not a good thing for a rimfire!
Accuracy was good as far as I could tell. Pop cans dancing all around at 10 or so yards. Next time I'll have it at my range with a good rest, and measured target stands.
I tried a couple other brands of ammo. RGB's functioned OK, but a couple misfires showed dented rims so I am assuming it was the Remington bulk ammo. federal Champions were totally incompatible with the little Taurus. Failures to fire, failures to eject spent rounds, failures to feed. You name it, and it failed! Just to make sure that something hadn't happened to the gun I shot several more mags of MiniMag through it without trouble.
So far I'm happy with the Mini-Bull, and anxious to give it a really good test session.

Cheap, I like your thinking. But, (there's always one of those, eh?) I've found that locally, if you have a job and a little cash, there are always some good deals in the pipeline. I have recently found myself turning down deals just because it's something I don't want or need. Keeping in mind that I almost always look at at gun purchases as investments wether short or long term.

Just a different philosophy Boatme. As my sig line indicates I don't look to sell or trade any of them down the road at any time. Things just pop up that appeal to me. Sometimes very reasonably priced C&R guns, sometimes a "steal" from a LGS like my T/C G2 Contender with two barrels, and a Burris scope for $250, sometimes a sale at BPS or Cabella's when I have a bunch of points and gift cards, and sometimes I just can't help myself when I see something I want. All I know is I'm paying the bills, the safes are getting full, and I'm having lots of fun!!!:D

Yep, it's always fun. My safe is about at capacity and it looks like I'm moving soon. Not sure what to do. I may have to leave the safe in the house and buy another one when I move. :)

I don't even know what for..

Maybe because they are cool looking, and fun to shoot!:D Also the price of the gun, and that of the rimfire ammo can't be beat.
Besides, in my case, like the ladies say "It was on sale"!!!:D

I seen them at gun shows $179.99 and $199.99 I am tempted to get one... just for a pos beater gun, I need a beater gun.

I finally got to do a good run in of my new tiny bull gun. I had a chance to function test, and bounce a few cans around a few weeks ago, but this time I had proper targets, and a bench.

First impressions, likes:
Loads of fun to shoot.
Very natural to point.
Surprising accurate for a tiny gun with a firm and long SAO trigger pull, short sight radius, and sights that my 65 year old eyes didn't care much for.

100% reliable with the right ammunition. More on that later.

I like the tip up barrel concept. Just kind of cool loading the first round that way.

Sorry I forgot my camera for pics. I'll get some on my next range trip.
I could easily get a magazine full of center mass hits on a standard B27 target @ 10 yards. Not really using the sights, but point and shoot instinct style shooting. for me a good way to practice my SD shooting at close range.
From a bench rest I could tighten the group up to about 3" and sometimes less. As I said, the thin front sight with the little groove down it isn't a good match for my old eyes.

Dislikes:
As mentioned the sights are a little hard to use for accurate aiming. Maybe a little sight paint here, and there might help.

The magazine is a little harder to load than my other rimfire autoloaders. There is a small rivet like protrusion on each side of the magazine attached to the follower that helps in compressing the spring. It's not as pronounces as that on my Walther P22, and Browning Buckmark making it more difficult pulling the follower down to load the magazine. also there is a very small "sweet spot" in the magazine lips to slide the rim into. the other two mentioned guns seem to be a lot easier to put the rounds into the magazine.

Now my biggest complaint. The slide doesn't stay open after the last round id fired. This makes an accurate round count when you are shooring very important in order to avoid dry firing the pistol after the last round has been fired. Not a good thing for a rimfire because of possible peening of the chamber mouth by the firing pin.
I did have a few dry fire incidences due to some very bad ammunition, but I don't notice any ill effects on the chamber mouth.

Over all my impression is that the Taurus PT22 Poly is a winner, and I'm very happy with my purchase. Another one that's gonna eat up a lot of range time, and low cost ammo because it's just so much fun to shoot.

Lastly a side note on the ammunition:
CCI MiniMags were 100% reliable, and accurate as expected.

Winchester Wildcat was just about as accurate as the CCI, and also 100% reliable

Winchester bulk "333" An equal to the Wildcats.

Remington Golden Bullets bulk ammo was accurate, and functioned well as long as it went bang!!! Probably 6 out of 100 were duds. They had a decent firing pin strike, but did not fire.

Federal Champion. Totally useless ammunition!!!:eek:Duds, failure to eject, stove pipes, failure to feed. If it could go wrong, it did with Federal Champion!
I thought maybe the Taurus just didn't like the Federal loads. They felt noticeably weaker than all the others, and even sounded weaker with a dull report. I then tried them in my P22, and Buckmark with the same results. Accuracy was OK I guess. Kind of hard to tell when you had to hand feed every other round!

Now the surprise of surprises. I also tried some Federal 325 bulk ammo. It had a differant appearance, and was a completely differant animal than the Champion. It was 100% reliable, and as accurate as any of the others...Go figure!

Hello again Cheapshooter,,,

I'm pleased to read that your mouse-gun performs as well as mine does.

Taurus seems to have hit a home run with these little shooters.

Is the 325 Federal bulk pack the same ammo as the 550 Federal bulk pack?

Mine runs the 550 Federal just fine,,,
But I prefer to run CCI Mini Mags round nose,,,
I'm one of the people who want penetration over expansion.

I thought mine would be a shoot a few times novelty pistol,,,
But it's so reliable and easy to shoot that it finds itself in my pocket quite often.

Have fun. :D

The 325 federal I mentioned were from a box marked 325 value pack. they are listed as 36 gr. copper plated HP @ 1260 fps. Althought they say copper plated, they don't have the yellow copper look of CCI, RGB, and others. More of a dark bronze color.

With my CCW covered with my Elsie Pea, Kahr CM9, and Springer XD40 SC I don't intend to use the tiny Bull for carry, and am more interested in reliability, and accuracy at a value price. I would however trust nothing short of CCI 40gr RN MiniMags for SD if I were to carry it.

Cheap philosophy sounds familiar. I have a jiminez ja-22 it's been a fun and surprisingly reliable little gun. Dont care if it get scratched or muddy I carry it atv riding all the time.

Buy'em for fun and love of guns not status symbols.

Hp9

Hi point hp9 9mm! Only $160 and 9mm ammo is pretty cheap! Seems like a pretty neat gun to take out and cycle some rounds through!

I have a Hi-Point C9 that except for the second round fired has been 100% reliable. That one round was probably operator error. Don't know if I had the mag fully locked in. It's been surprisingly accurate as well. Now in excess of 500 rounds through it.
