My "inner-Dirty Harry" is coming out! 500 S&W

Just to let you know. . .

I started a related post in the General Handguns Forum called "The issue of TOO MUCH GUN."

Basically it deals with the idea of whether it is even possible to objectively determine what is exactly "enough gun" and what is "too much gun" when dealing with self defense issues.

Thanks for all of the great responses!!

While I won't debate the practicality of the .500 4" as a carry weapon, as only the end user will know what is right for him (or her)...I will offer some useful info....Magsafe now makes a self defense load for the .500 smith. It is a 210 gr. epoxy based "bullet" that contains 25 number 2 shot. It is designed to fragment on impact whether on a hard or soft target, and will disperse all 25 pellets in a fan shaped wound channel in 9 to 12 inches of soft tissue. I would expect the cost to be kinda high, but should be very effective on man sized targets that present a deadly threat.

500 Smithfor carry...

The bottom line is that choosing a 500 for a PDW is just plain irresponsible. You must ALWAYS think of those around you when the use of a weapon might be involved. Unless you plan on carrying your own steel backstop, that 500 slug is a disaster waiting to happen once it leaves the barrel.

I want one! But first I gotta practice my lines.

"and the fact that I have 500 SMITH AND WESSON, written on the side of mine, should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence......" :D

My shoulder rig for my Super Blackhawk 7-1/2"(I made it to..) works fine, and I am 6' something. I keep meaning to take pictures of the shoulder holster.. turned out good :)
