Yeah I already own a M&P 40, and I love it. My best friend has a Glock 23 though, and after seeing the G36, am torn between a Glock, or a Ruger. I guess the Glock bug might have bitten me .

Do yourself a favor and purchase the new Apex Tactical sear ($29). This sear will make you M&P trigger better than any Glock you ever shot, and even better than S&W's own M&P Pro. This is the sear that everyone at the M&P forums is going nuts over. I bought an Apex sear to test in my M&P40 and I was more than impressed. Now I'll be buying them to replace my other 4 M&P sears... Even my 2 Pro's.

Once you feel the M&P with the Apex upgrade, you will want another M&P in another caliber... trust me!

Happy Birthday!

thanks gglass, would i need a gunsmith to work on that part of the trigger?

If you follow the video tutorial on the Apex Tactical web site, it would be hard to get it wrong. This is a simple part replacement in the sear housing, and does not require any specific smithing skills... I.e. It is not like reshaping a 1911 sear to hammer fit.

If you want closeup pics on how to remove the M&P sear housing, you can see how it is done in this Burwell Trigger Job PDF... http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/M&Ptriggerjob1.htm

It takes all of 5 minutes... if that. You will believe that you are carrying a completely different handgun when you are done.

Have fun and be safe.

I was looking online for reloading equipment last night, but honestly I dont know where to begin, as far as, all of the equipment goes.

Any advice towards a kit to start with would be helpful...Thanks!

I actually havent held a CZ in awhile, but it felt pretty good. I cant thank all of you enough for the advice you continually offer, you have so far been there with me for all of my gun purchases, from the Ruger .22 that is now my dads, to my M&P40, and to my PT-22. I absolutely cannot wait to add a third gun to my collection, and I hate to keep changing my options around, which is why i stuck to only four choices on the poll.

I am not trying to discount anyone's advice, and the more advice the merrier. It will help guarantee a good decision on my part.

So keep the advice coming.

For the other selection on the poll, it looks like the CZ's, the Beretta 92s and Smith Revolvers, and the GP100, are good choices as well. It is just so hard to narrow down my choices. but thank you for the help.

How large is the grip of a Beretta 92fs compared to the new 90-2?

One more thing, what do you guys think of Sigmas, SR-9s, and the Taurus 24/7 pros. I just dont want to discount anything, because it is not priced at the same level as Glocks, M&Ps, CZs and Berettas.

But if I am steering my own thread off course with bad advice, then feel free to steer me in the right direction. :D

The main reason I am not looking for a 1911 at this moment, is the price. I would like to have one someday within the next couple of years. But for now I want to get either a 9mm or a .38spl/.357mag. At this point i am probably going to reconsider the G36, in light of 9mm's and revolvers. But your advice is welcome.

New Options

The .45 is now off of my list.

I am now focusing only on either a 9mm or a .38spl/.357mag.

With that info, the following guns I am still interested in are:

Semi:
Glock 19, S&W Sigma, Ruger SR-9, CZ-75, Beretta 92fs or 90-2, Ruger P95, and maybe a Taurus 24/7 pro OSS

Revolver:
Ruger GP100, SP101, or similar S&W revolvers.

Hope this helps with the suggestions, and sorry I keep changing my mind.

Please help me narrow down these choices.:D

I'm a big fan of the FN line. I have the FNP-9 and love it. Great ergonomics, great shooter and a great value. They have interchangeable backstraps so they should fit your hand. They come in 9mm, .40S&W, and .357sig.

Here's a sight that might give you some insight into some good 9mms.

The Ruger SP101 s an amazing little revolver with a big dog bite when you need it most.

I handled one in a gun shop last week and can't forget that little gem.

Dern it.

(If you like P95's,alot of gun shops sell then really cheap used and they usually just shoot better with age.)

(I bought both of mine for $225 each used.)

Thanks again guys. The FN's do look nice, and I am quite taken by the idea of a revolver.

I would prefer new, but am not opposed to a used gun.

I have heard many good things about the FN line of guns, but have never held one. I will definitely look into them.

Thanks IronPony!

I am leaning toward a revolver, out of simplicities sake for a ccw weapon. I wouldnt have to worry about magazines, and finnicky ammo, and such. It is just a simple easy to use weapon. But I dont have anything against semis, its just that a revolver would add some extra edge to my 2 gun collection(a M&P40, and PT-22).

Ruger SP 101 .357 magnum. Its a great and reliable. Its a fun shooter, nice and solid frame, great for home defense. A good amount of stopping power but recoil isnt bad at all and you can use 38. and 357mag through it. Its a gun that you will keep for the rest of your life.

That is one advantage to a revolver, it is a gun that I will be able to hand down to my children, and so on, because it is a solid metal revolver. Plus it would add not one, but two calibers to my repetoire.
