mouse gun for a mouse

HEHE no it was a stupid pigeon. They live right above the front door and must have been waiting for her HEHE well I vary much do want her to make the decision but I dont have a range that rents guns so I kinda sucks. also I dont have alot of friends that shoot and the ones that do have full size autos. Im going to try and join a club but have to go to some meetings first so we will see if they help. As for the autos go she handled the little beretta .22 really well but she would have to be able to load, rack and bang. I do love guns so even if it doesnt work for her it can join the family :D

An old Colt Police Positive Special....

I recently got a Colt Police Positive Special made in 1922; the grip is miniscule. My 5' tall friend has some pretty small hands and she says that it's just great for her. It's a .38 SPL gun, too, so it's no mere popgun. The gun is great but the grip is so small that I finally had to use a Pachmayr K-frame grip on it as rubber grips are unavailable for this particular gun.* It's a good, strong, legit .38 and it only weighs about 21 oz.

* Actually, aside from a little gap between the top of the backstrap and the grip, the gun feels great now. Still, I'd like something better looking so I'll trade a set of near-perfect original grips to anyone for a Tyler T-rip and a set of cheap-o repro ivory or mother of pearl grips. I don't much care about appearances; one side of the gun is pretty speckled. I bought it for use and don't want to run the risk of chipping the originals while I'm at the range.

I must say that is a beautiful gun and that looks about right for her hand. I went out and got the S&W catalog and the ladysmiths look about right also.

They're cheap, too. You can pick them up for $250 or less on Gunbroker all the time. A LadySmith would be cool, too, but it's going to cost a lot more. They made millions of Police Positives over a long, long period.

My 4'11" sister enjoyed shooting my Smith 10 snub-nose. .38 special, K-frame, so very little recoil and small grip. Double-action trigger's not that bad ... although she preferred shooting it single-action.

I'd look very strongly at revolvers -- good chance she'll find racking a semi-auto slide to be difficult. The exception would be a Beretta with a flip-top barrel (like a .32 Tomcat or .22 Bobcat).

A revolver is what im thinking about right now honestly. I have a S&W victory and it would be perfect but its a bit reach for her. It sucks as i havent had a chance to shoot or go look at pistols lately.

Snubby 38 revolver loaded with wadcutters or low recoil self defense ammo.

Taurus-Smith or LCR.

Note-the LCR is known for a bit more recoil then the other two.

The plus side is when she needs it-it will fire everytime.

No manual safety's either-revolvers don't need them.

The downside is she will have to shoot it several times at a range and get used to shooting it.

Smith makes a Ladysmith snubby she might like and Taurus also sells snubs with pink grips too.

Makes the gun more hers then yur's-ya know. ;)

Any good range should have some of these availible for you to rent for her to try before you buy.

Always cheaper to rent a gun she doesnt like then to buy one she cannot stand to shoot.

How about a NAA Mini Master in .22 LR? Even from such a small gun, the recoil of a .22 should be mild and if it isn't, you can shoot .22 Short or .22 Long ammo.
