Most under-rated & Over-rated semi-auto pistols

Under-rated:
S&W 3rd Gen. Autos - particularly good are the pre-TSW DAOs.
Ruger P-Series.
Glocks.

Over-rated:
Expensive 1911s - regular old Mil-Specs do the job.
Small frame revolvers.
Sigs. No better than anything else, just more expensive.
Glocks.
 
Most underrated...most are due to lack of familiarity...in my opinion.

CZ's (on top of being a great death ray, its also a very reasonably priced quality gun :D)
Astra- most newer s/autos
Star- same as Astra
FEG- same as above
Ruger - not much "bad" to report
Taurus - steel autos and revo's. are great..
Rossi - owned by Taurus
Charles Daly - Armscor 1911's for 50 years

Most Overrated...mostly due to overexposure and great, accurate and absolutely true articles in gun rags....most deserve a "great gun" rating....not the "absolutely no holes barred wondergun"

Glocks - set the way for poly guns...still overrated..kaboom.
Kimbers - expensive price w/ high quality and inconsistancy.
Beretta - "italian" design like a ferrari or ducati...
Most 1911's...these seem to be highly overrated or highly underrated....go figure.
SIG...as close to deserving an overrating as any, if any exist.
S&W....holy grail or not?
Colt ...
Browing...on the verge of being overrated....maybe not quite there.

Just MO.....take it for what its worth...Shoot well
 
Underrated:

CZ-75B. There are alot of rabbid fans on gun forums to annoy Tamara :D , but out in the real world nobody has heard of them and as often as not assumes they are crap due to their wrong-side-of-the-Iron-Curtain origins. In fact they are functionally comparable to HiPowers, SigSauers and Glocks for alot less money. I've shot all the wonder nines and like the CZ best.

Overrated:

Beretta 92 series. Too big, too bulky, has such "features" as disposable locking blocks and the handy open top to make it easier to get sand into the mechanism. The world needed an oversized, less rugged double-action BHP and Beretta answered the call. :D

Ruger
Bersa
S&W value series---908,909,910 etc


Overrated---
1911's
CZ's---I'm sure its a good functioning gun---I could never get past the lack of fit and finish to actually buy one.

... But you think Ruger semi-autos are UNDERrated?!? :confused:

All of the CZs I've seen are much better finished than any Ruger semi-auto by a country mile.
 
HIGHLY Underated: Steyr M series

Underated: Rossi revolvers

Rated just right: Glock

Overated: Expensive Custom 1911's

HIGHLY Overated: H&K USP's
 
Although I would love to have one, for the price, the SIG P210 is clearly the most overrated pistol.

Underated? Although they do not fit my hands, I would have to say the Ruger P series, specifically the P95. Great gun for the money.
