Taurus (any)
Keltec P32 - no matter how light it is, it's still a .32
Makarov - reliable, yes. Big, heavy, lousy trigger, weak foreign cartridge.

Kel-Tec p11 - inexpensive, more powerful, accurate and lighter than a snubbie
Bersa .380 - close your eyes and you'll swear you're shooting a $450 piece!!!

Glocks - I never did like that trigger, and it's plastic, and how much money do you want for that?????

OK seriously, I think 2500 ultraelite target model 1911s are slightly better than a mil spec 1911, as long as the tolerances aren't tightened up to make it jam. The USP.. its just too big of a gun for me to carry, there fore its overrated (there i said it). Handloaded bullets being more accurate than the factory's match grade ammo.. i know its possible but most ppl don't really take the time. The 45 acp as a "manstopper" its not a magnum. gee whiz frangible bullets (ala glaser)

Beat up SW model 10's and those who can shoot them. FEG autos (they aint as pretty but they work). Colt 1991a1's.. they have the most experience making 1911's so there. The 9mm as a defensive ctg its no weakling compared to many defensive loads. Weight.. ever notice a steel HP and a steel 1911 wiegh the same when loaded? Hardball.. is doesn't all just shoot right through every time.

Overrated:
Berettas, Sigs, and any DBL action auto. Guns with two trigger pulls are not for use in self defense.
Underrated:
The "ancient" 1911. If you can get one that is 100% reliable, and trust condition one carry, there is no better self-defense pistol on the market. Ask the pros what they carry.

Makarov (yeah, I know they ain't perfect, as some have mentioned before, but they are fun). BTW, I've about had my fill of people mispronouncing the damn little thing--it's pronounced Mah-KAR-ov, not MAK-er-ov. Oh, why do I even bother?! You say ta-may-toe, I say...hmmm, I say it that way too. Just call the Makarov whatever you damn well want.

I don't know enough guns to rate completely but I'd have to say definitely that the Kimber CDP series is over-rated.
I have a buddy who bought the compact and it has done nothing but give him problems. A drifting rear sight, a front sight that fell right off while shooting *plink* and it seems to jam something like 1 out of every 50 rounds.
Sad.
I noticed a lot of people claim the CZ to be underrated. That may be so but it still took a swan dive off the ugly tree and hit every single branch along the way. Glock is maybe just a little lower on that tree. I own a Glock so don't send me any hate mail.
