Most disappointing/surprising pistol you've bought

Worst/Most Disappointing: Walther PPK/s. After lusting after one all my adult life, I finally shot one and hated it! It cut the web of my hand so bad (actually bleeding) I couldn't shoot for a week.

Most Surprising: Walther (trend here?) P-38 wartime production. I have no idea why, but I could hit anything I aimed at with it. It just fit my hand and pointed very naturally. Tons of fun.

Most disappointing:

Para-Ordinance P14-45. Brand new late-production model that wouldn't feed ANYTHING reliably, including 230gr ball. Sold for spare parts, "I will only take your cash if you know in advance that it freakin' sucks." At least it LOOKED really nice.

Runner-Up:

Glock 35. Grouped like a sawed-off 20-guage loaded with birdshot. Weapon would not go into battery with new barrels. Nobody knows why. All my little Glocks (23, 36) were really good. Wierd.

Best surprise:

Kimber Stainless Target. Wow, worth every penny. Reliable and *very* accurate. Looks great too.

Runner-Up:

Sig-Sauer P228. I bought a *HEAVILY* used one last week. It looks like hell but shoots like a dream. It seems to say, "Shoot as fast as you want, you won't miss."

C.B.

Most disappointing would have to be a Sig-Sauer P229 in .40S&W. Short grip,
and heavy recoil with factory loads.

Most surprising- Smith & Wesson Model 629
Classic .44 Magnum with a 5" barrel. The
nod here goes to S&W for superior quality,
and craftsmanship. It will hold it's own
against the rest of my Sig's :D And with
that said, this is the gun that I traded
the P229 for!!! :)

Best and favorite: Beretta 92fs and Ruger SRH in 44 mag. Most disapointing: Ruger 50th anniversary MK II ,wouldn't stop jamming . also a Model 29 44 mag S&W that was out of sync and shaved lead .

Most disappointing....Sig P-220 jamamatic rustbucket I ever owned. Next is a Para Ordnance P-13 which is very unreliable, even afgter having hundreds spent above and beyond original purchase price, fro titanium trigger, beaver tail, 6 high cap mags, throated, ramp polished etc.

Most surprising is my Kel-Tec P-32 chromed slide model. Very reliable and concealable.

Disappointing- Sentinel Deluxe .22 lr. I thought I needed a revolver and so I bought a used, cheap one. Just plain did not like it after trying to get used to it. I am not a revolver guy.

Happily surprised--- Both of my KelTecs P-11 and P-32 and my Phoenix Arms HP-22.
Those 3 are reliable and fun to shoot.

Disclaimer: I have been participating in this and other gun forums, and have been mostly aware of potential problems with all of my purchases. I owe the posters here a debt of gratitude for all the help and opinions. Saved me a bunch of money from time to time. I am glad we have a place to watch each other's backs from.

And if you hear from my Louise, won't you tell her I love her so?

7th Fleet, Uhhh, I don't suppose that you'd consider parting with the mags for your p-13 would you? ;)

Most surprising-Sig P226 in 9mm. I didn't think I'd like it the first time I handled one, then I got a good deal on a used one and I love it.

Worst has to be a Star 80 in 9mm, I hated that thing.

My daily carry is a Glock 19

Most disappointing: Hi-Point 9mm Compact. Worst POS I ever owned!!

Most surprising: Glock 26. The most perfect CCW pistol ever developed.

BOYCOTT SMITH AND WESSON!!!

Yeah, I got a permit to carry,it's called the friggin Constitution.---Ted Nugent

"Man killing is nasty business"---Finn Aagaard

Minor caliber my arse, 9mm rules the roost!!!!

"Glock 26, that's firepower baby!!!! 17 rounds of concealed carry DEATH comming your way from out of nowhere, Slimeball!!"

Worst:
Sigma 9mm and Glock 19 (second generation). These pistols gave new meaning to the term "jamamatic." Chocked on everything with several people that fired them.

Biggest surprise:
Unissued military Bulgie Mak. Chugs through everything without a cough. Almost too accurate and it has a nice bark. A real flame thrower with Ruskie ammo.

Best all around:
SIG Sauer P226 and P228. Accurate, reliable, fit me like gloves, and recoil mildly.

So many pistols, so little money.

Most Disappointing: Kimber Aluminum Compact. The slide lock would hardly ever work, even after THREE trips to the factory!

Most Surprising: My wife's Springfield Armory Ultra Compact V-10. The thing is extremely accurate and fun to shoot! My SA champion is really good, but no surprise.

I really don't think I have any disappointments in my collection ;) My most surprising one is my Glock 27 :o I said I'd never own one,But I bought one and can't believe how well it performs. May have to make it my No#1 carry gun. I'm impressed :D

Happy Shooting :)

Most disappointing: 9mm sw99. Jammed right out of the box. Sent it back and S&W replaced the barrel. Accuracy was terrible. Trigger broke in March. Sent it back and demanded a new gun and they gave me one. Bought this in Dec. btw.
Most surprising: Les Baer Premier II. Never knew anything could shoot this good!
Ronin :)

Most disappointing was a genuine Colt Bisley in .32-20. The barrel was just a shade above sewer pipe. It would group only on ordinal compass points. Had been refinished (nickeled) in a Tijuana bumper shop.

Worst gun was a Rhone or Rhome SA revolver in 22lr/22Magnum.

Most surprizing. American Arms derringer in .45 ACP. Even after being warned, the recoil and blast was a  SURPRIZE!!!

Most disappointing would be my Taurus PT 111, but only because of the horrible trigger. It is accurate off a bench rest, and only cost me $75 new, so even that is a lame complaint. After all, I did know the trigger was awful, even before I parted with the all that cash. :)

Most surprising would be my Russian Makarov 9X18, that shoots everything I feed it, and groups (with lead handloads) as well as any auto loader I've ever shot!

Most disappointing: Para Ordnance P-10
Very picky on what to feed it. Taken forever to break in. :(
Most surprising: Glock 20
2nd most accurate pistol I've shot, right out of the box. :)

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...

most surprising pistol i ever bought:
para lda, love it and a para kit gun on a alloy frame that i bought used, shoots great, did not expect it to shoot so well. both guns will eat any thing i can find to feed them.

biggest disappointment i ever bought: h&k target 45. was reliable . was not accurate.another disappointment was a pair of taurus beretta 92 clones, not reliable, not acccurate at all, prone to rounds slam firing, had two with consecutive serial numbers, both of them did it the same day and got returned to seller same day.
second biggest disappointment in pistols: glock 17L. reliable. accuracy for target pistol is just not there.

best pistol i ever shot i didn't own was a ed brown with a comp. every bullet went exactly where the sights were. a friend has this gun in dallas, wish he would sell it to me, no chance, shoots too good.

Most disappointing: STI LS-40 This is a little 3/4 width 1911 frame which is a bit smaller than an officers model. It was SUCH a great concept for a CCW. But it would NEVER run reliably. STI completly rebuilt it with new slide and frame. I think the grips were the ONLY thing they didn't replace. Still would jam on the last shot of the mag. I traded it for the same gun in 9mm. This one shoots like a dream. .40 S&W was just too much for this design.

Second place for disappointment was a Kimber stainless Polymer. This would NOT feed anything but S&B ball ammo. Even then... it would fail about every 30 rounds. Just plowed into the feed ramp. Sent it back... no problems found. Sigh.... I took the frame and put it under a Mec Tech CCU and it has run FLAWLESSLY!

Which brings me to my biggest surprise... the Mec Tech Systems Carbine Conversion Unit. http://www.mechtechsys.com/ This is a 16 in top end that slides onto your 1911 frame. It has a cut out shoulder stock. This is just so much fun to shoot it should be illegal. :D We did a small amount of work on it.. throated and polished... locked the barrel down and put on sling swivels. I mounted a Tijicon REFLEX II on it. Now it shoots thumbnail sized groups at 50 yrds. Its one of those "What do you need THAT for?" guns. Well... because its FUN!!!!

Most disappointing: Original red label Ruger Mark 1
Most impressive of many: Glock 21

Most Disappointing: AT-84 which would, on its best day, actually chamber and fire two rounds in a row. Everybody else who owned these loved them...grumble...'Monday Morning 9MM' ?

Most Surprising: my 'new' military surplus Bulgarian Makarov. Nice fit and finish, 100% reliable, very accurate and inexpensive to boot. Heck of a piece, that.

And the rough trigger smoothed itself out after a couple of hundred rounds too, just like people said it would.
