Minutemen to Bush: Build fence or we will

While the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps works, maybe the NRA could form a militia to provide security for the fence building process...hee hee hee

JUST A JOKE!

Must be a pretty awesome fence for drug/immigrant smugglers to give up thousands of dollars of revenue...good luck, I'm just afraid that it won't do much good vs a set of good bolt cutters or even a ramming vehicle and determined driver. You'd need some form of fence that would alert you to it's tampering, and at which mile of fence it's being tampered at. I'm afraid that this is a problem with no significant solution in sight. Learn spanish...hehe. Dang ants.

ESPECIALLY when the mexican military is involved...am I the only one wondering where the blackhawks and missile bearing drones are when hummers with mounted .50 cals are escorting drug shipments past the border? And you can bet your arse that they're not going to bother escorting a couple of pounds of mota, but are probably escorting either coke or meth the destroyer. Too bad it's probably going to take a small massacre before cnn notices...

Fences work two ways....

They keep people out,,,,but they also keep people in....

Frankly, I'm against the idea of a fence.

Sounds like a good idea.

And prev poster: You forgot that fences also herd animals/people to the proper entry or exit locales. There's no problem whatsoever with people going through the actual immigration channels, it's just the border-hoppers that cause issue.

Fellas, this fence is ramming-resistant. It has 2 ditches, one inside and one outside to protect the fence from vehicles.

In order to protect the ditches, there are concertina wire barricades across the front of the ditches.

There are two large fences with barbed wire on top, angled outward.

A patrol road exists between the fences, with motion detectors.

The road and fences are lit. There are cameras at regular intervals, back-wired to monitoring services.

Can you get thru it? Yes. But you will be seen by the camera, sensed by the motion detector, and have to haul a LOT of concertina wire out of the way before doing some heavy digging to smooth a path to the fence, in order to ram it and set off motion detectors... then smooth a path across the other ditch and move more concertina wire.

That's a lot of work. And you will be detected by the video (or lack of video) and the motion detectors.

I would assume that these fences would be built upon private property, not government owned. If that is the case, check the laws, but someone deliberately cutting a private fence and entering private property in the middle of the night........?

Silly rabbits....... All you need to make your fence better is a little help from our friends at Duracell.

" Uh yea, I need 800,000 AA's please."

"What For?

"I'm building an electric fence!"

And prev poster: You forgot that fences also herd animals/people to the proper entry or exit locales.
LOL!
Nope - that was my exact thought.

Forgive me for having a Berlin Wall moment....

Redhawk, that sounds like a very fine fence, very fine indeed...So to build 700 miles of this great wall of mexico, it's going to cost what again?

This issue definitely is not a new one, it has been around awhile, but it has definitely ramped up in the past few years, maybe because of Bush's amnesty program, they're running in as fast as possible to get in while they can, frankly, I think Bush is obscenely two-faced. On one hand he talks of national security and fighting terrorism, but on the other he calls people who volunteer to sit in the hot arizona desert, protecting the border, vigilantes. It's terrible. And the minutemen only plan to fence 70 miles for starters, with a cost of 10,000,000 dollars. They hope 1 million Americans will donate 10 dollars to the cause. Just my two cents. -BamaXD

bush IS 2-faced...how can you sell the idea of national security when the border is not secure at all..it's called lying through your teeth...bush has turned into a big disapointment with me...yet another failure-in-the-white house in the making....out of control deficits, weak domestic policies, denial of trade imbalances and the un-americanizing of american companies, I would have never voted for kerry as his vague positions were indefensible, I expected much more than this garbage from bush...I use lower case letters for these people's names on purpose..they are indeed small men...this will make 16 continous years of inept leadership for this country...

I have a question for everyone.

Who here as directly suffered as a result of illegal immigration, and if so,
how were you hurt?

Did you lose a job to an illegal immigrant?
Were you a crime victim perpetrated by an illegal.

A search on this site of the words "illegal immigration" reveals that little has been discussed about immigration up until it's become newsworthy.
Why is it now such a dire emergency that people are suggesting gulags, fences, violations of human rights and such?

I'm not say illegal immigration isn't a problem, but I have a nagging suspicion that this is all just a "Lets all band together behind the American flag and hate sombody"! moment that Americans seem to love.

same old regurgitated nonsense, mthalo...it ain't working any longer for those who can see...just face i, you don't think our laws are worth upholding..just own up to it and be content...but don't try to falsify an issue for others to be persuaded otherwise...

So Aspen, do you have an answer for my question? That's all I'm doing here, posting a question and my reasons for asking it. Has illegal immigration hurt you directly?

What exactly am I falsifying here? I'm trying to figure out what the real threat is. I find it telling that when I post this question, all I get is fiery
generalizations such as

you don't think our laws are worth upholding

I do think our laws are worth upholding (well most laws, some of those "illegal to wear a hat on Sundays during a lunar eclipse" type laws may not be worth it, those Jim Crow laws we used to have weren't worth it either). I'm not in favor of gulags, electric fences, shooting them, and so on.

If that type of savagery is what the American people are about, then let the illegals have the country, there's nothing worth upholding.

mthalo, the American people have been really nice to illegals for a long time. Now we should maybe kind of regulate the flow a little bit. We also need to look out for tax paying Americans a little too, that way we can keep giving free housing, health care, land, prisons, food and so on to the illegals.

Carbiner,

I agree with that, just not a lot of the methods being discussed here.
If the couldn't get anything out of coming here, they wouldn't, but they come here because someone out there keeps hiring them.
