Minutemen to Bush: Build fence or we will

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Minuteman border watch leader Chris Simcox has a message for President Bush: Build new security fencing along the border with Mexico or private citizens will.

Simcox said Wednesday that he's sending an ultimatum to the president, through the media, of course - "You can't get through to the president any other way" - to deploy military reserves and the National Guard to the Arizona border by May 25.

Or, Simcox said, by the Memorial Day weekend Minuteman Civil Defense Corps volunteers and supporters will break ground to start erecting fencing privately.

"We have had landowners approach," Simcox said in an interview. "We've been working on this idea for a while. We're going to show the federal government how easy it is to build these security fences, how inexpensively they can be built when built by private people and free enterprise."

If I can pick up the correct building materials at home depot, I will load up my truck and go down for a weekend to help build it.

I wouldn't let an illegal immigrant touch that wall. I hope there are guard towers included. Every illegal Mexican immigrant should be treated the way Mexico treats illegal immigrants. Take their water and send them back where they came from.
 
This issue has Bush looking increasingly more stupid and inept and/or corrupt everyday...sooner or later though the boiling pot is going to throw it's lid off and he will be unable to ignore it...
 
I can't believe this government. Our fellow Americans need help, while Bush turns his back, and calls them vigilantes and has a public love fest with the communist dictator of China.
 
I like the idea. If the landowners agree to be fenced, cool. How much of the border is U.S. Government land?

Is it your contention that this problem cropped up in the last 6 years?

I don't recall any tremendous swell on the left for strong illegal alien action, nothing from those "stupid and inept and/or corrupt" lefties.:rolleyes:

More power to them. If we were building one here in CA I'd at least donate to it.

The only problem is that this solution is probably what most politicians would favor. It would get them off the hook from making difficult or controversial decisions and do it without costing Federal money. As we all know, Federal money belongs to important projects like bridges in Alaska.
 
If the government sends in the troops to prevent the Minutemen from erecting the fence (as opposed to preventing the illegals from crossing over) that will be quite revealing.
