Midway USA

If you don't like them, don't buy from them. I've always loved the rapid shipping (once ordered late on a Saturday night and got an email saying it had been packaged and posted for shipping on Sunday). And as far as backorder shipping costs, what makes the difference? If they just said they were out and you ordered it 6 months later or from elsewhere, you'd have to pay shipping again anyway. I appreciate being able to backorder when no place else has what I'm looking for; at least that way I'm high up on the list when more come in.

Get an O3 FFL...
If you're a full-time firearms hobbyist, you'll save enough at Midway to make it well worth your while-even if you only buy collectible firearms occasionally.
Yes this will get you dealer pricing, but will require you to make a minimum purchase of $40 to avoid the $4 service fee for orders under $40 now that you are classified a "dealer"

Cabela's prices

Yes, I know this is a slight sidetrack...
I just got a "Shooting" catalog from Cabela's in the mail... Their pricing, on everything I looked at- from optics, to reloading supplies, to shooting supplies, you name it- was ridiculously higher than I can get at any one of a half-dozen other online retailers. By ridiculous I mean often in the range of 20% or more.
The key to buying from Cabela's is to get their store credit card and wait for coupons in the mail. You get "Club Points" towards future purchases when you use their card, and their coupons are often quite generous, e.g. $20 off a purchase of $150 or more if you use the store credit card.

If you set up your utility and cable bills to be charged to your Cabela's card, pay off the balances every month, and then use the accumulated Club Points to buy stuff with coupons, Cabela's becomes a very good deal.

Meh, I have a Cabelas card, which I'm getting rid of, and still don't care for buying from them. For shooting gear their selection is only ok. Sure, it's nice to get the $10,20,30 off in points, but half of the time it just brought prices down to Midway/Midsouth/Natchez/Grafs/Wideners levels, and paid for the shipping. About the only time they were worth it was for a few clearances and for items with minimum advertised pricing that cost the same everywhere (scopes for example).

For me, a big key in liking a vendor seems to be whether the vendor allows USPS shipping for small gun parts and small reloading tools. If they only have UPS shipping (NATCHEZ-talking to you!) you end up paying a relatively high price on anything under about 10# weight. IIRC, I just spent $17 to ship a 10oz scope with natchez via UPS, on a trip so short it only takes 2 days via UPS ground. Even considering insurance, that's quite high. If I'd personally shipped it USPS, it might have cost $10 or so tops. Fortunately, Natchez cost $25 less than everyone else's unshipped price, so it made sense to go with them. But it's still annoying.
I suppose the lesson they want us to learn is to buy huge amounts of stuff at once.

I need a list of all of these places that are so much cheaper than Midway... I usually shop two or three places anytime I'm looking for something, and Midway usually gets my business the majority of the time. Sometimes they even beat the LEO discount at Brownell's.

I have used midway in the past and had nothing but good luck dealing with them--I had ordered a powder funnel that the description stated that it could be used for .22 hornet, and when i recieved it there was not way that it would work. So i called them up and they appologized and sent me a new funnel with an incert as small as 17 and it works great. The best part is it was sent and shipped free of charge to me!!! In fact i just ordered some parts the other day on a Wednsday night and the package arrived Friday morning and I used standard Ups Shipping--can't beat that!!!!

I posted on this thread earlier at #29.
I had been toying with a .38 Super to my Commander. I had researched and found the barrel at Midway, better price at CDNN on the magazines, and at Factory Sales for the dies. Was kinda on hold, considering it.
Got a birthday e-mail from Midway this morning with offer for birthday pricing. Ended up ordering it all from Midway for about $30 less. Shipping was only $8.83. Completely satisfied.

I have bought from Midway only once. Aside from their pricing (hey, somebody has to pay for all those safaris Larry Potter shows himself on), I find their web site to be totally unnavigable.

I buy everything I can from Brownells.

I find their web site to be totally unnavigable.
That's funny-I hate browsing Brownell's website.
It's slow to filter, and the category arrangements don't seem to make sense to me. I always end up backing out to go down another rabbit trail to find what I need. I find it hard to compare multiple products from different makers as quickly as I can at Midway.

That said, both are miracles of web functionality compared to Natchez Shooters Supply. Their filter sorting system for some things (like Optics) somehow manages to eliminate certain comparable items due to typo errors in the way they're described. Try searching for a 1-3x Weaver scope, and you'll find nothing via the menu for "Variable" "Rifle" and "Weaver" scopes, but a basic fuzzy search on "1-3x Weaver" finds it easily. In some cases I've just had to type in the catalog product code to get it to work properly.

I don't mind paying a few dollars more for the convenience of a very wide selection and very fast order-filling and shipping. I get my stuff from them in two business days and have never had any kind of hassle and they always have SOME form of what I need... Works for me.

I would like to give Midway USA a thumbs up. There's prices are good and the selection of items is better than most sights I looked at. I was able to order my missing item I still haven't received from Botach Tactical plus a couple other small items. My order was processed and shipped the same day and was on my door step in 3 business days! Great communication so I give thumbs up to Midway USA

I buy a few things from Midway now and then. I have no complaints about them. I buy a bp revolver from Cabela's now and then too. They're the cheapest around for those and are always putting a few on sale.
