Anyone here ever bought ammo through Midway USA?
Are they a sound merchant?

While we are at it, I see they have a 9mm FMJ for range practice.
It's called "Magtech Shootin' Size Ammunition 9mm Luger 115 Grain Full Metal Jacket Box of 250".

Has anyone used this? The price seems reasonable.
Any experience with it?

I have had numerous positive experiences with Midway but no ammo purchases. Prompt delivery seems to be one of their strong suits.

I use Midway as one of my main sources and have had nothing but positive transactions. ( To the point that I believe Larry Potterfield knows me too well). Magtech is made in South America but seems to have excellent quality control in that I have had more problems with Winchester white box, and some of Remington's practice ammo brands than I have experienced with Magtech. Midway is a first class operation.

I agree with the other posts about Midway. I buy almost all my gun related stuff from them. The staff are courteous, delivery is prompt and they have never given me a problem with returns.

As for MagTech, I have used their primers and bullets for reloading. The prices were good and the quality is excellent.

Midway is trustworthy, and has good customer service.

They are a MAJOR merchant for reloaders and shooters (not some fly-by-night website).

+1 on the other responses. However, one thing to watch out for with Midway is that if you place an order for a bunch of different things and if a few things are backordered they will ship things as they get them. If you are not careful in these situations you will get hosed with extra shipping charges.

You might try Cabelas. They have local in store pick up for items that are out of stock in the local store but are ordered over the internet with no shipping charges. If you watch the web site carefully for your favorite ammo they quite frequently have smoking web specials you can't get in the store. For example they recently, and may still have, Federal Gold Medal Match 168 gr BTHP 308 for $19.99 a box.

+1 on Midway being top notch!
They are the first merchant that comes to mind when I am in need!

Customer services is top notch!
I purchased a holster from them & just really didn't like it!
I called them up. They apologized for me not being happy & instructed me on how to return it!

I have not purchased this brand or any other ammo from them.

Yes, it's odd to find basically nothing but positives about Midway. I have ordered about a two dozen items, at least, over the past two or three years and never any kind of problem. I just make sure they have the item "In Stock" before I order. It says that when you bring the item up.

They also have quite a selection of shooting related stuff. If I were just getting practice ammo I would look at "Cheaper than Dirt", That Russian Tulammo (sp) works fine in my guns in several calibers I by and I never had a problem and the price can't be beat unless you reload.
Midway is #1.

Another 100% positive on Midway -
Used them for many items over 10+ yrs with NO problem -
Well, I do have ONE beef - They use too many of them dern "peanuts" to pack your items in :p:p

AIM Surplus usually has some good deals on ammo. If you reload, make sure you are getting brass cases that are boxer primed.

I also have ordered a ton of stuff from Midway with excellent results. Not so much so with some .357 MagTech Ammo however. Large extreme spread and poor to no crimp. That was several years ago, so their QA may have improved.

I had a particularly good experience with them the first time I ordered. I bought some Prvi Partizan ammo which turned out to be of questionable quality. I sent an email to the customer service email address from the website saying I'd like to return the ammo. A short time later I got a phone call from them - they said not to worry about returning the bad ammo - I could dispose of it or do what I liked with it, and they would simply send me a replacement or credit my account to the value of the ammo, whichever I preferred. Sure enough, within a minute of that call, I received the credit. Saved a lot of time and hassle by not requiring me to return the stuff - they just took my word for it. And I like that fact that they phoned me up and spoke to me personally.

They are a top class operation and I'll definitely be doing business with them again.
