Metal frame vs Polymer Frame

How many of you out there prefer a metal framed DA/SA semi-auto instead of a polymer framed striker fired pistol. I never thought it would happen but I've gotten rid of all my Glocks and now prefer DA/SA metal frame handguns. I currently use and carry a 96a1, and want to add a m9a1, CZ, and a Beretta Cheetah for carry in the summer months. It seems most have joined the poly bandwagon like I did, and I'm just curious if there are many left out there who still favor the metal framed DA/SA guns.

Or you could get a DA/SA pistol with a polymer frame, they're not mutually exclusive.
Good point. I never have really cared much for those for some reason. Hks are one that comes to mind and they are okay, but not so much my thing. SIG makes both but I just much prefer a metal framed SIG. I think the Poly SIGS are ugly as sin. I guess I just haven't considered a poly SA/DA as an option.

Most of my DA/SA guns are polymer, that's why I mentioned it. I have a few classic SIGs too for collective purposes, the polymer is just lighter for carry. If you like it rock on.

I absolutely do, but I also like my polymer-frame DA/SA HK45. Don't like strikers, and hate Glocks, but different strokes. Polymer makes more sense to me with a 45, the reduced frame weight helps offset the increased ammo weight.

all metal sa/da for range and home defense work. I can shoot them faster and more accurately. but lighter, smaller polymer framed have a very important place, in your pocket. I don't care for striker fired, although I still use them

Metal vs. plastic, I am agnostic on.

Striker vs. hammer, I am agnostic on.

I have a slight preference for uniform trigger pull (vs. DA/SA).

I care much more if 1) it fits me and 2) I can shoot it well.

I am with you here. Polymer vs metal is a secondary consideration to does the gun fit me and do I shoot it well. In the end I have more metal guns then poly but it is not because of materials IMHO. When I find a poly gun I like I buy it.

While I prefer an all metal gun, polymer does have it's advantages. Every time I shoot or even pick up one of my blued or anodized guns, I feel like I have to wipe them clean or the oil/sweat from my hand will eat away at the finish if left on, not a problem with polymer. If you cant tell by now I am OCD with my guns.

I know where you are coming from. I always like to wipe mine down too.

I too am finding an all steel gun in hand more and more. I ran xdm polymer for years (and it's a good gun), but a eaa witness match is now used 10:1.

I use both but overwhelmingly prefer my alloy frame CZ P-01, followed by several poly frame pistols (CZ P-07, Steyr C9-A1, Walther P99, Glock 19, etc.).

I like pistols with character.

but today character doesn't mean alloy v poly frame.

Check out the CZ p series for a great value in SA/DA or just SA pistol. Of course the Sigs and Metal framed CZ's are also great.

Too bad Ruger and Smith don't make hammer fired pistols anymore.

That being said I do love the M&P and Ruger striker pistols...If only CZ made a hammer fired shield thin CC option.

Those CZ's are nice, and I've been debating on getting a p-01 as my next purchase. They are really nice looking guns.

I've gone full circle, from metal (all steel Star M43) to polymer (Bersa BP9CC) and back to metal (alloy Kimber Solo). Except for my LCP.

I have steel framed semi's that are very classy guns. I only have one aluminum alloy framed gun, and I don't really care for most of them. I'd just as soon have plastic as aluminum.

I own both steel framed and polymer framed guns. They each have their advantages. I'd rather carry a polymer framed gun and I think polymer framed guns can be easier to maintain. Having said that, I much prefer the aesthetics of steel framed guns over polymer framed guns. I find steel framed guns more fun to shoot, look at, and hold in my hand. I have two steel framed pistols - a CZ 75 SP-01 and Sig P226 stainless, and these are the 2 favorite pistols I own. I'm attaching pics of them below. :-). I also have 8 Glocks, an HK VP9, and a Kahr PM9 - all excellent guns, all go bang when I pull the trigger, but my favorites have steel frames.
