Jim Keenan, aren't you being a little too defensive? If you reread Rich's post, he did not mention your name at all. I don't see anything foul mouthed in your post, intolerant yes, but not foul mouthed. I believe Rich is referencing the way this whole thread started off and continued in the same vein.

Jim-
I've known you too long to engage in that type of exchange. Reread my post; calm down; then email me if you you wish to take this further.

Covers about everyone on this Board. How's about you getting the ball rolling on this civil disobedience gig? I pledge to join you an hour or two later. ;)

Rich,

I have noticed on several occasions that you have a rare talent for rubbing members up the wrong way, have you considered running for office in MA or perhaps becoming a police officer ?

Now ease that hammer down big fella, just kidding ;)

I wish you lived in DE we could march on the governor's mansion and be arrested together.

Unfortunately we can wear openly legally in DE and would not be arrested we would only be asked to leave our weapons outside the governor's office. We would be given an appt. time with the governor or one of his aides and asked politely to return then. The right to bear arms is in the DE State constitution thanks to our active state senator ???? can't think of his name he's not in my district.

We have a nice state run range called Omenlanden Where I can shoot with DE's finest and they some times give shootin tips to us civilians. Our State parks have regular hunting blinds and you can get a clear 1000 yard area to hunt deer for 12.50 license, and early morning appearance for a lottery ticket

Oh and we can buy any gun we want that the federal revenuers didn't outlaw already.
Delaware has no sales tax or tax on handguns.
You don't need a permit to buy a handgun, just the instant background check.

Anybody hear of the whiskey rebellion??

If I lived in Mass or NewJersey or NY I might be more inclined to march.

Remember the speech that is most in need of defense to maintain our right to free speech is the speech that is the LEAST POPULAR.

You never know when you might be the least popular one.

I may not agree with what you say but I will defend your right to say it. Thats how liberty works.

To all get Mondays Newsweek, they have interviewed a former director of handguns from colt, He has some interesting views about Colt and the latest gun laws of MA. He will be on NBC tueday nite also. He is from western MA and a small gun dealer. thanks. JM

FYI The governor of MA is a republican (Paul Cellucci)who applauds what the AG has done.

Sheesh. Makes you feel real good about voting for the Grand Old Party in November :(

Yes, Gov. Celluci does support the AGs regulations. I recommend that all MA gun owners call their reps, the AGs office, and the governor's office. Hope you have a strong stomach, as the govs aides are arrogant little twerps.

Not all Republicans are anti-gun. Indeed, most of the Republicans in the state house and senate voted againts CH. 180.

Note that we are in a bad way. Even if we somehow get the AG to repeal his regulations, most of those regulations were written into law in CH. 180. We're in for a long fight. The only chance we have is to win in Federal Court. That will probably require going all the way up to the Supreme Court, which will take a lot of time and a lot of money. You all have donated to GOAL's legal defense fund, haven't you?

Regarding the NRA, they concentrate mostly on the national level. Given the current anti-gun hysteria and the lawsuits against the manufacturers, they have their hands full. They pretty much leave most of the work in Massachusetts to the Gun Owners Action League. Some folks are angry at GOAL because they haven't been more successfull. Unfortunately, GOAL is pretty much like Custer's Army at their last stand -- they're way out numbered. The average sheeple in MA are anti-gun.

Concerning the new regulations, it's been a while since I studied them, but here's the highlights. All semi-autos must have either a mag safety or a chamber-loaded indicator. All guns must have their serial number stamped in a second super secret place. All guns must have a built-in "childproofing device," which could be either a trigger pull greater than 10 lbs, or a manual safety.

Based on those requirements, I think that the following guns may be able to be sold in MA (provided the manufacturer stamps the serial number in a second location):

1) Some S&W third generation (not the DAOs, like 3953).

2) Browning Highpower (mag safety and manual safety).

3) HK USP (manual safety and chamber loaded indicator).

Guns that won't be able to be sold in MA:

1) Glock

2) Kahr

3) All M1911 variants (unless they have an external extractor, which can be painted red and called a chamber-loaded indicator).

4) S&W DAO (3953, 4053, etc.).

5) All SIGS (no mag safety or chamber loaded indicator, no external safety).

I'm afraid that most gun owners in MA are in condition white. Even before this latest fiasco, when AG Harshbarger (the previous AG) first proposed these regulations and during the passage of CH. 180, I found that most gun owners didn't know what was going on and wouldn't take the time to do anything once I told them what was going on. When I tried to get them to help out on political campaigns, they were always too busy sitting on their fat behinds in front of the TV.

Now, when things have gone into the toilet, they complain that the NRA and GOAL aren't doing their jobs.

There are hundreds of thousands of gun owners in MA. How many do you think are going to be at the GOAL rally on Boston Common on April 24? If hundreds of thousands showed up, you can bet we'd get the attention of the jerks in the State House. But we'll be lucky to get more than a couple thousand. And the folks in the State House will know they made the right move politically.

Just wondering if this belongs in legal/political forum...esp. since they already started a few threads on MA clusterfuxx. Oh, and do remember that we are allies...no use fixing the blame now, let's figure out ways to counter this atrocity.
