Marlin 1894 or rossi 92

I've got a stainless Rossi in 357 and have to say that it is of good quality. I know that some don't agree but that could depend on the quality control at the time it was made. I think the little Rossi is a handy and capable rifle and is near perfect for a saddle pack. Mine has the tie down ring to keep it in the scabbard.

Brand new, Connecticut made Marlin 1894's are still available. I went to 3 gunstores yesterday and they all had them. I brought one home. Paid $530

I have an Amadeo Rossi SA "blue" 16" bbl model 92 in .357 Mag.

Nice gun and very accurate.

Cycles the cheap AE 158 grain SP ammo flawlessly.

The finish is a rich blue and the furniture is a dark grained Brazilian hardwood which I also like.

My gun was built pre-Braztec with their "lawyer safety" and post 2000 factory retooling with computerized machining technology and is the best of both worlds.

I also have a 20" Rossi 92 in .454 Casull made in the same era.

They are both accurate, attractive, dependable and cheap to buy ($400) when you consider that the new Miroku made Winchesters with the tang safety are going for $1300 a pop.

My Rossi 92s are very close to the original Winchester (John Browning) design.
