Magnum research Baby Desert Eagle

Does anybody on here own one of these? I have a .40S&W full size I am picking up on Wednesday and wanted to find out as much info as possible. Anywhere to get grips, accessories? How does it shoot? Any ammo that it doesn't like? Thanks!

I have an all-steel .45 and it's a great shooter with any ammo I've tried. Not a lot of stuff is available for them as they're such a niche gun. Basically, whatever accessories are listed on the Magnum Research website. I think they make Hogue grips for the .40 full-size but that's about it...

I too have the all steel .45.. Amazing shooter, extremely accurate and reliable. however like ngib said, not many accessories. I think i read somewhere that the hogue grips for one of the taurus autos would fit on the baby eagle, but not sure.

Ammo wise, it eats a steady diet of whatever i feed it. I am literally over the 5k round mark and it's still working flawlessly.

Good luck. did you get the steel or polymer?

Lord no I wouldn't carry it and holsters are hard to come by except for custom mades. I can't imagine lugging around 2 1/2 pounds of pistol all day, but I didn't buy it to carry either. I think the Hogue grips for the CZ-75 fit the full-size .40 and 9mm. Weight empty: 40 oz

I have a full size .40 S&W "baby" and wouldn't think it needs any accessories.

It is a smooth, clean, accurate, responsive and Very "tightly" made pistol.

I carry it in a custom adjusted crossarm shoulder holster with an FBI cant...that has a "tie down loop" attached to my pants belt because of it's weight and size.

If you think the baby is hard to conceal, try it's bigger brother..

I love both of my DE, if you happen to find any good holsters etc please let me know. Let us know how it shoots!

Yes, BabyEagle40
I found that with a vertical carry shoulder holster, the weight of the grip made the grip "pivot" to, and away from my body as I walked(too suspicious looking). And in a horizontal carry shoulder holster, the muzzle poked noticably behind my arm and body in back.

But canted "halfway" between those positions with both the muzzel and the grip slanted down(muzzel slightly down more) like an FBI cant....the muzzle is unoticable, and the grip does not pivot around.

But I only do it in winter with thicker coats.....AND with the holster tie down belt loop holding the whole rig gently pulled down so there is almost no noticable movement, even when I move at a near run.

anyway, it works for me.

Another way I'm planning on carrying is to have a "cushy...padded" pocket holster sewn inside my jacket in about the same configuration.

BabyEagle40,
Hardly any (unless custom-made) rigs come that way.

What I did was get a stock horizontal (Jackass) rig....and have a bootshop move the beltlood tiedown about midway on the bottom of the holster between vertical and horizontal(a little more horizontal than verticle), so my belt pulled it down into canted position...and also readjusted the shoulder straps to work "tilted" comfortably.

Good Luck

glock 17 holsters usually work pretty well for a baby eagle i carried one in an iwb leather holster with a forward cant made for a g17 and just wore an untucked button down shirt over it and it never moved and if anyone ever saw it they never said anything to me. with a decent belt it's not that heavy.

I have the polymer, semi-compact .40, and it will be my carry piece when my CHL comes in (hopefully in a couple more weeks). It's a great, and attractive, gun.

Fobus makes a paddle holster for the gun, but you'll have to get it off of Ebay (to be shipped from Israel) as FobusUSA doesn't seem to import them.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover, last week, that Blade-Tech makes two IWB holsters for it. They may make other types of holsters for it, as well. I didn't look.

Trijicon and Meprolight both make night sights for them. I still haven't decided if I'm going to get night sights.

And those are ALL of the accessories I've been able to find. Ah well. lol

BabyEagle40,
You will be surprised and impressed with how Tight the slide action is.
It must have a Whopping guide spring!

With no serrations on the totally smooth slide, keep it lube protected, but whipped "near dry"...or it's a Buggar to pull back and open. I like mine, a precise, tight "machine"!

Hope your support hand has a good sturdy grip to pull it back, friend!
