Looking for a .270

I don't BS about the accuracy but I can understand why pics would be more impressive then just saying it. The range "ace" could sure shoot though. I used to think I was good. Now I think I'm just average. :p

I am with warbird, older 700 action or hard to beet and easy to work on. The trigger is easy to stone. true the action square the bolt. some nice wood block and bed and you have a life time great rifle. A peace of art This will soot with any of them

Is this the "one in the same" Rem. 700 .270 win, you posted for sale in the buy sale trade section of this forum, warbird, if so how much?:) Buy the way Rockriver dude, this isn't an older 700 he's got but it sounds to me like he has a good one and they are hard to find for sure!;)

No, sadfully they just don't.. I like to think that some of the new ones are straight, and it sounds like the Warbirdlover has one for shore!!!;)

I bought a Marlin xl7 in .270 last year before I read about all of the Remington/Marlin mess. It did in fact come with one sling swivel missing, but other than that it has a great trigger, points naturally, and is more accurate than I. All for less than $400.00. We sighted it last year with an old coot that has shot nothing but Browning's, Weatherby's and the like for 60 years and still shoots better than any of us! He said "That's a damn nice rifle there son". Not bad in my book either.

Yes it is (was). I came to my senses and put a lighter weight scope (Nikon ProStaff 3-9 X 40) on it and I'm back in love with it. I wanted a wood stocked rifle and to that effect I'm getting a Boyd stock for my Ruger 77 Mk II all-weather .300 Win Mag and getting rid of the skeleton stock. So I'll have my wood stocked rifle and still have this cool Remington.

+1 for the Win 70--in Featherweight Deluxe form. I don't recall if your $800-900 budget includes a scope, but the basic rifle plus a few accessories or ammo is well within that range, as is a gently used one with decent scope.

Remingtons

I have a Remington 700 in .270 that was bought new in 72. Broke the stock in 84 and replaced it with a Bell & Carlson fiberglass/graphite stock. Gun will shoot 5/8" at 100 yds when I do my part, probably got 300-400 rounds through it. Bought a new Model 7 Predator in 243 2 years ago. I've put around 500 rounds through it and it shoots pretty good too. It shoots sub MOA with 100 gr rounds. I've been satisfied with both.
But my Win mdl 70 light varmint in .308 will stack them up too.
