I have 2 loaded pistols currently but I have magazines loaded in the drawer next to the safe for every weapon inside of there.

All loaded

I'm with BrockGL, I don't like loading and unloading carry guns, so the ones I carry on a regular basis are loaded with actual bullets. The rest of them in the safe are loaded in the safety sense, so what difference does it make? As Elmer Keith said, keeping them loaded discourages people from wanting to dry fire them -- not that anyone else has the combination to my safe.

Stevie-Ray,

Can't argue with that, it would be nice not to have to jump through half a million hoops to be able to carry (basically, unless you're a LEO or a Brinks guard, nice wish getting a carry permit).

In the meantime, locked and unloaded in the safe it stays... :(

I had bought many guns up until recently, but due to financial hardship, I had to sell every doggone one of them except one. I sold them face to face in my state. ;)

Two safes: one w/biometric access with my HD revolver, loaded, plus 5 full speedloaders ready to go; and the other one, with the rest of the stuff, chamber emptied and mags unloaded (however ammo nearby, just in case).

Kind regards.

Not to tread on anyone's toes, but my guns stay in the safe at all times. The last thing I want to find coming home is a guy with one of my guns stuck in my face. I have a pistol safe right next to my side of the bed with quick access (button push) that has a loaded pistol (with night sights) and spare mags. My long gun safe (in a closet in a different room) has 2 loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun. Everything else is unloaded. I keep loaded pistol mags and AR 15 mags in that safe also.

A guy who ran a filling station in my town thought he'd leave and stop by the house for a moment, then proceed to do errands. He interrupted a burglary in progress, a gunfight ensued in the house, he was shot in the forehead with his own gun that had been found, and was killed.

All of the pistols are loaded. The rifles are not, but do have loaded magazines handy.

Elmer Keith once commented that it was inappropriate to keep empty guns in a safe. He used to, and had a friend over looking at his guns and made assumptions they were unloaded. Pointing them unsafely under that assumption. After that, he kept them loaded and talked far and wide about keeping them loaded in the safe. That it was the only way to guarantee responsible gun-handling.

There are two handguns that aren't loaded: My .22 revolver and my 1851 Navy cap and ball gun.
