The main problem most instructors have is they think students will<snip> hold to thier own personal logic.

Self included... Yes!?

Don't leave out the "snip."
"The main problem most instructors have is they think students will excell to their level or hold to thier own personal logic."

Most instructors think the student will excell to their level. That is very very true. I make no false assmptions that a student will seek out or get more instruction or even practice as much as most would agree is needed after any training. That is why most programs are overly complex and leave the student with little they can retain and use at their home range facility etc. The training begins to decay the day we leave it and if it isn't repeated by the student it decays rapidly. That is why we offer FREE re-attendance for life. We encourage them to reattend on regular levels and teach them things that they can do when we aren't around.
Logic is a belief. Yup, I expect my students to retain my "logic." The same goes for any other instructor, but that is seldom the case. Students either move onto other hobbies or interests or wander off to other logics and methods. Some become training junkies.
If a big PD required cops to only shoot every five years you'd be amazed how many would grumble about doing that.
When it wasn't required (and isn't in some areas to this day) you find cops that haven't shot a gun in years. It may shock a few but in highly rural areas you will find cops that don't carry a gun frequently. I ran into many of them in South Dakota and North Dakota.

Just thought I'd mention that this topic ought to be split into two topic:

1) utilizing press check/raised extractor/chamber loaded pin

2)what do YOU look for when picking training courses

Thanks.

Your logic is all over the map as you dig yourself in further and further.

As I read your post, you seem to have less respect for your own students than for those who have preceded and eclipsed you in the training industry. You don't feel that your students have much chance of attaining your level of skill; You label your students as lazy if they don't retain your material or "training junkies" (ie: wannabe's?) if they seek more.

No wonder you don't see eye to eye with Colonel Cooper. Your training seems to cater to the "Age of the Common Man". He, and others like him, not only expect, but seem to elicit, far more from their students than you from yours. Perhaps you get different types of students than he? Could there be any other explanation?

As for the transparent plug about free recurrent training for life....ummm, how long has your school been in business? The Members of TFL are "Members for Life". So what?

I'm sorry, Sir. To some I may be walking a fine line here. But I won't have you insulting my friends without answer. I'd call you on such attacks in any venue, including TFL. I have nothing against you personally and have not attacked you in any ad hominem manner. However, when you raise your standard as a "trainer" and attack those who's track record is proven, you'd best be willing to defend your own with better logic than you've shown here.

We all know that policemen, disinterested in firearms, are notoriously poor shots. So, what's your point. This thread was about a *trained* firearms handler asking to know how to perform a specific technique. If you feel that your students are too lazy or too stupid to learn and retain such technique, I suggest a different line of work. They're quite capable of learning *everything*, as long as it's properly presented.

It just might be that the ongoing argument between "Plus P" Darrell and some of us might be boiled down to a difference in mission. It seems pretty clear that Darrell's focus is to take "F" and "D-" students up to a solid "D+" or "C-". Cooper, on the other hand is committed to excellence and aims to take the student up to an "A". Frankly, I doubt that it ever even occurs to Cooper that someone who has gone to the expense and trouble to arrange to study under him would settle for anything less.

I suppose there's room for both the 5-star restaurant and the sidewalk hotdog vendor.

I'd like to apologize. This thread was inadvertently closed by one of the new Staff Members due to it's size only (109k).

Unfortunately, no invite was made to start a Part Two. Any party interested in doing so is more than welcome.

Sorry for the confusion.
