Lets talk tactical shotguns

I looked this morning on the 1201FP that's for sale on my earlier post. 7 hours left, no bids, starting bid is $575 with no reserve and it is a new gun even though it was probably made 20 years ago. I think they were made until the early to mid 90's

And it's just on the other side of the lake from you. I still think it would be something to consider.

That is a nice looking gun. I need to sell one to get one and I am in the beginning stages right now.

I found a nova tactical. I really like how the gun feels. I am just getting started, plus I picked it up for $300. Hard to argue with that.

Now to save my pennies for the benelli m4.

Awesome gun! You will love it
I have a Mossverg 590 A1, M2, Mossberg SPX, Nova pump, and 870... no issues with the Nova. I love the slug select option on the forearm. Great to have

Please? Someone(s) tell me what makes a shotgun "tactical"?
Is it sights? Mag extension? Flashlight? Laser? Pistol grip? Gauge?
Loads? Synthetic stock? Depth finder? Rod holder? All the above?:D
Curious.

Black is good.

What ever they want to call the match. Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays, 3 Shot, or Tactical. But to be a real Tactical Shotgun, all flat black is good...

Yes. That's it.

Quote:
I believe it's intended use. It's a "PC" way of saying anti bad guy or "zombie"

It's intended use is "tactical", the way it's used is "tactics".
All the goodies attached to the weapon are tactical to support the tactics
used deploying the weapon.
A standard 5 shot 870 Express can be used just as is, if the operator is skilled
in it's intended use. Tactics are the skills employed to accomplish the task at
hand, tactical accessories enable the skilled operator to do the job more efficiently.
3 gun competition requires different tactical skills and tactical weapons than
a s.g. used for home defense. Without skills niether will suffice.

So when I add my 28" barrel to go skeet shooting, has my shotgun become tactical?

I'm kidding by the way :D

I shot it yesterday, almost forgot how much fun slugs are through a light shotgun. I really like it though, super smooth. Sights are off though, I see lots of bruised shoulder in my future.

Great information here! many "tips" in posts!
A shotgun is a cery special weapon. It;s not just a point and spray item!
You actually need to learn to aim it, centering your shot colum.
There are specialists in all 3 phases and I think the Shotgun is horribly overlooked!
If possible get some real training to learn to play the instrument!
I tried teaching myself after years of hunting years ago. and found I DON'T know what I'm doing!
I shot make-believe courses aand just spread a lot of lead all over!
At my age and income. I fear that I'll never learn the art...
My home is still safe though because I can center enough buck to protect us. I still need training tho!
I have 2 guns, a home=brew 12ga 19" pumpgun and even better for "old" me a 20 ga sXS stoked with Buck.
Lower recoil and it fits me very well so I can hit well with it.
Too bad there's not a "Nitche" in 3 Gun for double Barrels eh?
