Lets talk bolt action 308

put a brand new 3-9-40 on my 22 a few weeks back and im just not able to see my shots on paper at 100 yards very well

Keep the scope on there and spend your money on a SPOTTING scope... 3x9x40 is almost overkill on a .22 ...any more power/money on your .22 is a waste and you still won't be able to see your shots. Get a spotting scope. That's one of the things it's designed for.

will do. i hear alot of talk about the trigger needing upgrade. thats gotta be one of the sweetest triggers i have ever pulled, does it really make that big of difference? what is the stock trigger pull?

IMHO the X-Mark Pro adjustable trigger is one of the best I've used. And I've had Timney's and other rifles with good triggers. But from some of the other threads, I must be extremely lucky with my Remington purchase.... :D

Mine's not bad because it was tuned by my smith but it's by no means solid or good. It will do for the time. I would love a Old Style 700 trigger.

Rifles

I have 2 Mod-12 Savages in .308 long story anyway out of the box the rifles shot 1/2" groups with factory ammo. I worked up a few loads for them 1 in 150 gr and 1 in 168 gr. both bullets are Berger yardage is 150 on both and groups where 5/8" and just under 3/4". I use a WOTAC 4x14/50mm scope with 80 MOA's of vertical adjustment. First pic is the 150's second the 168's.

They are great guns and with the WOTAC's on 5 of my rifle I have never lost a zero and all my shots the require scope changes are always repeatable.

Moving a gun company to the PRK seems to me like moving a menorah factory to Iran......

Weatherby has ALWAYS been a California based company... The rifles have been manufactured in various places (USA, Japan, and Germany).. As much as I want a rifle that has "made in USA" on the side of it... There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Japanese or German made Mark V's. Ethnocentrism does not work in this case (other nations build great rifles too)... The Japanese built Mark V I have is a tack driver...

Remington 700 all the way.

You will hear a lot of opinions out there about the accuracy of Remington 700's, or rather inaccuracy.

It's just plain not true. Mine was accurate from day 1. Got more accurate with a good handload, got scary accurate after I installed a Timney 1.5 lb trigger.

I have a number of Remington products which I am very happy with... ALL of the Remington products I've bought in the last 5 years have been complete crap including three Wingmasters and a model 700 CDL...
