Kilted & Concealed Carrying

The problem with a kilt, is that all the lass's are a tryin' to sneak a peak of where you b' carrying, and with some of the lads, that's not a place they try to conceal from the lass's that well.

I think it's called "brandishing".

As far as hiding a pistol, that's off topic. Oh, wait....

I wear a kilt almost every weekend during parade season and found the only place to hide a firearm is in the sporran.Thigh holsters will be detected by the first female to ask "what's under your kilt?".tom.:D

Clan ARMSTRONG, and as someone mentioned, the bellyband has been a great solution for me when wearing the kilt, both the utility version and the great kilt.

the only viable thing I could think of would be to wear it strapped to the inside of the thigh. Kind of awkward to say the least but...

I wear a kilt whenever I'm not in uniform. With my traditional kilts, I have a KelTec PF-9 with the belt clip that I clip to the inner apron. I generally have a knife clipped on the opposite side. My wife can't tell if I am carrying or not. I use a thigh rig, outer thigh, with the UK that carries a Taurus 24/7 in .45 with a spare mag. The KelTec will usually be clipped behind the belt. I tend to wear wool more often because it is not as vulnerable to wind lift.

Tony

I don't know if the MacDonalds have, though...

Nor have the MacGregors....

Now now, no place to bring up the '45 as a grudge, boys

Nobody here was at Culloden ;)

Neat & Tidy

I had never thought to clip a handgun onto the inner apron in the front. It may not be to hard to sew a pocket there that would be very easy to reach. Thanks for that tip. It easily conceals without much bulk.
The thigh style of tactical holster is to ruff for me. The kilt's movement catches and drags on it. I have had women run their hand into the split and touch my pistol before finding my gun. :p Even with a second (inner) layer of fabric they knew it was a pistol. Down right embrassing it was! I have never tried the inner thigh area for carrying.
For everyday wear I'm liking the Utilikilt more & more. You can't believe how restrictive pants are unless you've tried these! I wear my dress shirts & business ties along with over the calf socks. I don't have to wear a sporran since I have pockets and a normal belt is fine. If I wanted I think I could get by wearing a nice fanny pack, since its almost exected. The kilt covers my knees so little skin is actually exposed. Buy an everyday kilt in a solid color and give it a try, I bet you'll like it! :D

I have two kilts that I made myself. They are styled on the utilikilts, but cost much less. For me it was easy to build the pockets, and reinforce the waist band to allow me to carry.
Don't knock em till you've tried em. :D
I have my Detonics at five o-clock IWB.

Here I have my SP101 right front pocket.

Perhaps it's just me (even though my Grandparents came over from Scotland) but I think wearing a kilt here in the "Redneck Riviera" you might end up needing to use that concealed piece your carrying... LOL!

I'm glad you put the LOL there! Honestly even before I started carrying I was wearing a kilt. I've honestly have never had someone say anything negative to my face. In KY most rednecks are Irish or Scots anyway HAHAHA! Besides you can always wear a T that says "Real men wear Kilts" if you're trying to raise alittle aire. My daughter got me one for Dad's Day a few yrs ago. I haven't worn it outside of family events ....... YET! LOL

MarkAllen, great job on the hand made kilts! I wish my skills were so good. I measured the pocket of the Mocker, it's 13" deep at the low part of the opening. The opening is 6.5" wide. MarkAllen check your PM.
