Kerry's Real Military Record

" ”I've known a lot of officers in all branches of the service. It is my observation that it is highly unusual for one officer to disparage another, even under questionable circumstances, it just isn't done, particularly out of spite, jealousy, or as part of a political agenda."

I agree with that in principle, but it does not apply here. O Dell and the rest believe that Kerry's war protest actions erase any meritorious service and therefore, they are not disparaging a fellow officer: they are lying to make sure a war protestor does not get elected. I understand their motives, and I am not voting for Kerry, but I don't think Bush needs to get a bunch of people to lie to get elected. he should have called the swift vets for what they are, and Senator John McCain publicly asked mr Bush to do exactly that. It's too bad he didn't have enough integrity to do it, but I believe he is so afraid of Kerry's combat record he stands by while a bunch of lyers rip into it.

Someone previously mentioned Officers Fitness Reports being a key indicator of how an officer is viewed by his superiors. According to an account I read by his immediate commanding officer in 'Nam, it is that Kerry required constant supervision.

All lieutenants require constant supervision :)

Allow me to amend my comments to add that one officer would never disparage another publically. OTOH, scuttlebut in the O-club bar and similar venues can be most enlightening when properly coroborated. One quicly learns who is 'the real deal'.

If Kerry's service record is so 'fearsome', he could quickly substantiate it by full disclosure and make all the nay-sayers have to STFU. In the meantime -
- 3 Purple Hearts with no infirmary time
- 3 rewrites of his Silver Star citation
- "A Combat V" on the Silver Star (not a valid combination)
- His 'searing' memory of being in Cambodia in 12/68
simply does not pass the 'smell test' for me. Throw in a significant number of his contemporaries who BT, DT with him who think he's unfit, not ot mention his 'performance' as a US Senator :barf: , gives me good reason to doubt his integrity and fitness.

JMNSHO, but he's a poser.

When I was in the conventional wisdom held that the most dangerous thing in the world was a 2nd Lt. with a compass, a map, and a plan :D

I'm more worried about an 2nd Lt with a M9 *shiver*
