Walang - I got a Phillips player for $200, movies here at best buy are $15-20, the quality is slightly better (you won't notice unless you have a really good tv), and the sound is much better.

The quality still depends on the DVD. My wife found some bargain basement DVD's and the quality is worse than my 20 yr old tapes played on a 20 year old player.
