JOC Tribute Rifle

Mystro, the only way I would justify spending that kind of money would be as an investment. If I did not already have hunting rifles that are tack drivers, I might buy one and shoot it. If I can find one, Its going to be a safe queen and maybe my son can sell it 40 years from now and make a nice chunk of change. Not to start the old Jack and Elmer thing up again, but I know Elmer had a huge collection of un-fired collectible guns. I would guess Jack did as well. (Not sure about that though.)

I thought I'd just continue with this thread and while I'm not as good at product photography as Mystro, here's my new beauty I picked up today.(PIC heavy)

It's rather purdy, I'm bound to say it.:) The action is so smooth compared to my pre-64 270 and the trigger is superb. Now, if I can just get that stupid glue off the barrel where they put their advertising logo.

I had some of that but was afraid it might harm the bluing. I finally got it all off. I sure hope it shoots as well or nearly as well as yours. I couldn't find any decently priced ammo where I picked it up. They had some Federal 150 gr but it was $48!! I guess I'll try my reloads first. I'll mount the scope tonight. Right happy with this rifle and can't seem to get my hands off it.:)

I don't recall if those I almost got today were Fusion for sure. I was just awe struck at the $48 price. I'll check WalMart. Meanwhile, I'm going to bewbusy this weeked making some ammo for it and working on the .222 problem as well.

Thanks, I'll give those a try. I could get two boxes of those for the price of the ones I saw today.

I ordered a couple boxes. Thanks again. Figured I may as well join the club while there.

+1 on that stupid sticker on the barrel... you'd think they could have put something on, that would peal away cleanly...

awesome looking rifle BTW... a little better wood, than what is on mine...

BTW... was at Cabelas the other day ( was offering up advice for a buddy buying an AR )... so I had some time to kill, after we got his gun, mount, & scope picked out... so, I picked up a Leupold base & rings for my 35 Whelen Remington 700, which took all of 5 minutes, so then I wandered off to the gun library to B.S. with the guy working the library... after looking around, I asked him if they had a JOC tribute rifle ( expecting maybe they had something with even more awesome wood )..."nope... they are getting really hard to get right now" so looks like to buy one in the even near future is going to be tough, & or even more expensive... glad I got mine when I did, can't hardly wait to get some glass on it, & nicer weather to put a few round through it...

also.. thanks for posting up what works good as far as factory ammo... I usually like to sight rifles in with factory ammo, then try to better that with my handloads...

I'm glad I went ahead and got this one. I sure looked at it long enough. I bought two boxes of the SST ammo and have already loaded twenty rounds using H4831 and the Nosler 130 gr...more to come.

Of course, I expect to get groups just like Mystro. Yep, that sticker could have been left off. Winchester must be the only ones on the planet doing that.

Your rifle might group better. Winchester Custom Shop threw everything they got at these rifles, I cant imagine anyone not being a tack driver. For a feather weight barrel, they seem to shoot like a bench gun weighing 12 lbs.

The barrel does heat up quickly. In fact it heats up quicker than my Kimber Montana in 308 for some reason??????? I was shooting both last week and couldnt figure out why the JOC got hot two shots quicker than the ultra light Montana in 308.
