Jesse Jackson: Reap What You Sow

I think if we're hoping this damages his reputation with his constituency, we're forgetting what liberals are willing to overlook. I have zero expectation this will damage the 'reverand's' future prospects. With his wife, maybe. Politically, it won't matter one dam* bit.

However, I do think Jackson is losing ground lately, but that is because mainstream Americans are finally noticing what a blithering idiot this fool can be. The election fiasco will hurt him much more than this revelation, IMHO.

Abortion?

C'mon, that woman got over $400,000 payoff and $10,000 A MONTH for life for having that kid. There was no way she was about to flush it down the toilet.

Heck, I would even have his baby for that kind of money. ;)

Speaking of rackets, this is the oldest one: seduce a rich guy and take all of his money to raise his mistake.

I don't feel sorry for JJ at all though...

Ps- Pardon me for generalizing, but Liberal Democrats are moral SCUM and this will not phase them a bit. JJ's reputation will only be hurt with the kind of people that never liked him in the first place.

"Ps- Pardon me for generalizing, but Liberal Democrats are moral SCUM and this will not phase them a bit. JJ's reputation will only be hurt with the kind of people that never liked him in the first place."

Probably the most accurate prediction. I never liked Jackson and really don't include this as a reason. Those that like him will just say that "he is human and makes human mistakes". That will be that, let's get some money out of another corporation and make some more votes.

I agree with Gary, Jesse will not be damaged by this one bit. He may lay low for a couple of months but that will be it. All the good liberals will rally round the flag in his defense. "It's a personal matter". "He's taking care of the child". "But just think of all the good he has done". "It's just one small mistake". Yadda, yadda, yadda!

Jim Baker was crucified by the media (rightly so) for the very same thing, yet Jesse will get a pass. The major media has supposedly known about this for months yet chose to bury it. It is only conservatives who are condemned by the major media for moral lapses.

We must realize that morality means something different to us than to liberals. Congressman J.C. Watts said that character (and conversely morality) is what you do when no one is looking. To a conservative, morality is ones actions in their private affairs; honor, fidelity, truthfulness and other personal charactoristics define morality.

To a liberal, morality is how one handles their public affairs; do you take the right political actions. Personal actions mean nothing. This is how Teddy Kennedy can sit and castigate the honor of John Ashcroft while he and the other liberals keep a straight face. This is how they could defend Clinton without gagging.

The only way I see Jesse getting hurt is if the IRS looks into how he paid off this woman. Using mony from a charitable organization (Operation Rainbow/Push) is a no-no. Lets hope Attorney General Ashcroft will get the ball rolling.

The Republicans don't have the stones to audit Jackson, or any other politically correct group. They are the anointed and the Republicans are cowards.

Brett,
When Clinton got caught one thing I wanted him to do was stop the BS and just admit he did it. Jackson admitted he did it. Doesn't change my opinion (low) of him that I think he did the right thing here by just out and saying, "yeah, I did it"

Will he be back? 'course he will. Pests like him don't go away, they just hibernate for a spell.

Jackson did spend time going to ghetto jr. highs and high schools giving pep talks to the kids and, among other things, exhorting them to abstain from sex so they could make something of themselves. Now he goes and does this. I feel sorry for these kids, because he was their hero. They don't have many.

The possible good side will come if more blacks get disillusioned with Jackson, Sharpton, et al., and begin to listen to a different kind of black leadership. Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell, for example.

It should be noted

I agree that the tragedy here is the disappointment and disillusionment that will understandably be felt by many African-Americans.

Although many of us here at TFL are not surprised by Jackson's (increasingly) bizarre statements and behavior, and disagree with his politics and philosophy, I feel we should recognize that there is no joy in this for many African-Americans.

We should also hope that a better man or woman steps into his shoes and works for the benefit of African-Americans, rather than for their own benefit.

Regards to all.

I swear to y'all the first thing that went through my mind was that I was going to have to listen to another one of these POS come into my living room (through TV) and swear that "I did not have SEX with that woman."

I guess that one was already taken huh?

Bill & Jesse both in one week..........

Who's yo Daddy !! Who's yo Daddy !!!

Reckon this coming out had anything to do with the Ballot review in Miami-Dade finding that G.W. gained 6 more votes than AL ?

Count every vote and let every vote count, seems like it did after all.................seems like it did.

What do Jackson, Mfume, and Sharpton all have in common? They are all bastard children and go about the country making more bastards. Life without a father sucks. I'm glad I didn't have to live that way. ALL children deserve to have 2 parents and I hold nothing but contempt for someone who would father a child out of wedlock.

Cheating on your wife is bad enough. While in the Army, I knew a bunch of guys who wanted me to trust them, but hell- their own wives couldn't trust them. IMO a dating relationship is between you and her. When you say I do in front of the preacher, it then is an oath made not to each other, but to God. If you can't be trusted by someone whom you share that kind of commitment, how can anyone else trust you? I think JJ is repulsive, and disgusting.

If you've never been tempted, then you just haven't been married very long. It is a sad thing that he would create a bastard, but then, it isn't all that rare these days. Some communities have a 75% bastard rate, and I suppose this will just lend an air of legitimacy to the very act of being illegitimate. I'd sure like to bring back the days of some sort of social stigma assessed against any adults who make babies they can't support. Especially those who do it without any social committment between each other. I suppose I should have to get another job to help pay for these children. I certainly wouldn't want to force the parents to take any responsibility. Nope, I'm mister deep-pockets taxpayer, I'll pay for your kids and mine. Jesse- YOU SUCK!

Whew! glad I got that off my chest.

"No doubt my close friends and supporters will be dissappointed in me. I ask for their forgiveness, understanding, and contributions... err, I mean SUPPORT."

$365,000 home and $10,000/month!?
KNOCK ME UP JESSE! (that'd make a good T-shirt)

The Revurunnndd...UJaxsssssssssunnnnn

Well, now we know that theres at least ONE more thing than his mouth, that he can't keep SHUT.............
"To ere, is human, to forgive is divine", I guess I'm not divine....how about you ?????

Matt VDW, how do you know he didn't try?

I'm giving Jesse the benefit of the doubt on that. ;)

On the one hand, he clearly could have saved some money by paying a few grand for an abortion rather than 40K for "moving expenses" (that's a lot of moving vans!) plus 10K a month in child support for life. On the other hand, though, is the money coming out of his pocket, or his organization's? (This assumes that there's some meaningful distinction between the two. )

It's alleged that the money was coming out of Rainbow/PUSH. so much for the contention that "he's taking care of the kid", but rather than lay it off on the gov., he's laid it off on a tax-free organization - he's just a better connected poverty pimp.

Unfortunately, in time, be will be forgiven by the minions, he'll be back, but his indiscretion will remain as a matter of public record, and his credibility will always be dimenished. Now, if the woman had been white, that might have sunk his boat . . .

I'm no fan of Jackson by any means. But, does anyone find the timing of the release of this story a bit suspect? The rumors have been floating for some time, but the mainstream press releases it just days before GW's inauguration, an event Jackson had vowed to make into a circus. It would seem GW's staff may have their own assault team already in place. Now, if they could just get something on Chuckles Schumer...

Ooh, that's so sneaky I hope it's true.

Dick, that makes me wonder exactly how and through whom this information leaked out. Wonder if we'll find out. If Gore had won, might that have made a difference?

Regards.

Word is that folks in the RAINBOW COALITION did not like the illegal drain on their financial resources. Someone inside made some noise.
