iwb holsters for fatties lol

6'5" over 300lbs here... also working on diet, have lost 20lbs thus far this year

I carry a P7M8 in a crossbreed supertuck. I don't know if all of their holsters are cut this way, but I got horsehide and did NOT get the combat cut, and there is enough leather going over the top (while holstered, actually the back of the gun) that it bends over and keeps anything sharp away from me. I'm happy with it, seems to work well. I can provide pics if necessary of the holster (it doesn't have a wide-angle lense, so no pictures of me...;) )

I meet MOST of your criteria to comment.......
I carry a Sig P239 .40S&W in a Milt Sparks VM2. No complaints whatsoever.

i'm 6'5 about 375. I have a gut, not much of an ass, and i wear my pants below the belly.

I have been working out my carry options for when i recieve my permit.

I have two guns I feel that I will carry.

A 6-shot 38 special revolver, armscor 206 colt detective d frame clone. I have a mika's pocket holster on the way. This will be my most of the time gun.

My other gun is a Stoeger COugar 9mm. I was unsure of how IWB would work for me so I wanted to try OWB too, but i didnt want to blow too much money on a holsters i wouldnt use. I opted for a desantis dual carry OWB/IWB holster. Its leather, and has a thumb break for retention.

I have been trying it out around the house, I'm left handed, and I have found that I can conceal IWB at about 10:30- with the holster canted back towards the 10:00 position. The grip, which is the hard part of this gun to conceal tucks right under my belly line, and i can reach under and get a good grip on it to draw. This is comfortable to sit when im wearing a tucked in undershirt, and i dont have to worry about the gun printing or banging against anything.

I can also wear it at around 7:30 canted foward or 8:00, but the butt of the gun prints a bit in a light colored shirt.

I too strongly recommend the Cross Breed Super-Tuck IWB holster (http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/beltslide.html), worn slightly to the rear of the hip. I carry full-sized guns (currently the Ruger SR9 and the Taurus 24/7 OSS) in the Cross-Breed holster, and it is comfortable and the gun readily accessable. I did slightly modify the holster to "combat" format to ensure an even easier/quicker draw. I have carried concealed for the last 34 years, and I believe this holster to be my favorite ever.

Ps: 300 pounds; 6'0" in Western boots....

By the way, let me also share another tip for those that are a bit on the heavy side.... Military surplus suspenders. They hook under the belt and hold the britches in place while carrying a sidearm. And when you pull the sidearm off, simply pop the suspenders off as well. A great discovery for me.

Fat polock

5' 8", 283 pounds, no ass...wear suspenders. Carry: Taurus 85 (38 spl.)Stainless Snub nose in a synthetic cloth pocket "holster", in my right hard pocket. It is virtually undetectable.

military surplus suspenders are a great idea, thanks for the tip. my pants are always falling down so that would really help. were have you seen these magical suspenders?

Scoobydoo6906,

These are the suspenders I use, and they are both inexpensive and extremely effective. When I wear a suit, I put them on over my shirt, but under my coat. When I get to the office and pull off the primary pistol, the suspenders come off too. On weekends, when only an oversize shirt is worn for concealment, I put the suspenders on under the shirt. It is a great rig; keeps my britches up while packing and keeps the pistol from riding down my leg, all without having to cinch my britches so tight it cuts off my air.

I am a big myself, I wish I could carry IWB but I fell fly fish 5 years ago and crushed my femoral nerve in my right leg. I can not take the pain of the gun pressing into my femoral crest. I just gave up and when OWB and wear a bigger shirt untucked. It works for me but I love to wear loud shirts. I hope this does not turn into a picture thread. The pictures of Playboy are bad enough. lol.

After you decide on a holster, the trick is to go on a secure diet for a month. The weight you lose will be perfect for the IWB holster. Skinny guys have to buy new pants to get the same effect. All us fat guys need do is cut back for a month, lose 15 pounds and an IWB is a piece of cake. :D

only the fat, hungry, sweaty, and massively sexy need respond

Sounds like you called everything but my name!

I've had VERY good success with http://www.highnoonholsters.com I'm currently on my third "Split Decision", which is an IWB/Tuckable non-molded leather holster. They attach via a belt clip...easy on, easy off.

Yes, third one...for 3 different ones.

Carried a Keltec P-11 for a while, then up to a Kahr CW-40, and just took delivery yesterday of #3 for my S&W 642.

Their customer service is good, too. I needed another tension screw and bushing after I overtightened one; they sent one out fer nothin'. Didn't even have to.

6'2" 260 (It's my wife's fault)

I've carried a Glock 21SF in a comp-tac Minotaur with using one of their Kydex lined 1.5" belts for the last month and a half. 14 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Amazingly comfortable, and the gun doesn't print at all under a loose t-shirt :D

I weighed 163 when I was discharged :(

I guess in fairness I look more like a football player than anything, but, I've got a gut, and it likes Comp-tac holsters. :)

I think my wife fattened me up so none of the models we work with hit on me. Or, she's a chubby chaser. Either way, I blame her. :D

6'0, 250

My discovery a couple of years ago was that is is the length of the IWB holster that makes it comfortable or unbearably painful for me. I have had a Rafters IWB holster for my 1911 for several years and love it. I can drive with it on long trips, sit long periods in chairs or walk around.

I thought, OK, I like this IWB idea, wouldn't it be neat for a J-frame Smith, for a dress up occasion when I can't conceal a bigger gun? No, it is so darned painful I can't stand it. I don't know where the breakpoint between comfort and pain is, but it is sure longer than a J-frame IWB!

If I had tried the J-frame first, I would probably never have tried any other IWB.

This is not much help for you, but I think you just have to try something and see how it works for you. People say you accumulate a bushel basket of holsters that didn't work for you. I don't have a bushel basket of them, but there is some truth to the story about needing to wear them a while to find out if they are right for you.

Holsters for fat guys

I am a fat guy, 6'1" 310lbs I carry a full size h&k usp 40. I know the pain of trying to find the right holster. And the best holster I have found is an IWB made by Comp-Tac called the Minotaur MTac. This holster is very comfortable and most importantly accessible. They custom make each holster to fit specifications selected by the buyer, and it is a very reasonable price, I paid $80 for mine. Here is the url so you can check it out.

I feel I need to lose a little weight. Even adding as few as 10 lbs, I feel some of my Outside waist band holsters are uncomfortable.

I went to outside holsters and never looked back.

I think my Rafters Gunleather IWB fits the best around my immense waistline. It covers the slide completely so the safety isn't digging into my skin. But the holster I most often use is the High Noon tuckable IWB, though I never tuck it anymore. It rides nice and low, and is easy on/off.
Yeah yeah yeah, i'm 5'5" and weighing in around 285. I'm like a dwarf, short and stout.

6'0 and 300# here and I gave up on IWB a long time ago.

I have found that my fat-man-pants are suited perfectly for pocket carry. Depending on why, where and when it might be a Glock 26 in a Don Hume Pocket holster or a S&W model 60 (5 shot .357) in a nylon pocket holster.

But I feel much better armed with a Glock 30 or 29 worn OWB at 3 o'clock in a Don Hume pancake holster.

6'4" and 250 lbs and as above I kind of gave up on IWB. When I used it it was a Uncle Mike's size 12 IWB (soft neoprene) that suited me best, as it had no hardpoints to bother me. That is, other than the gun itself, a Kimber Ultra CDP. I've moved to the much comfier OWB, and use the same gun in a Don Hume JIT slide. It's open carry pretty much around the house until I put a coat over it. In the summer, I have learned to wear my shirts out; the thing that was hardest for me after about 30 years of tucked shirts. This has definitely been the finest carry method for me.
