It's official: Kansas passes Right to Carry bill!

From today's article in the Topeka Capitol Journal:

"The safety and security of our citizens is a top priority for me," Sebelius said, "and that's why I've listened closely to the Kansas chiefs of police and other law enforcement officers who urged me to veto this measure because they fear hidden weapons make Kansans, including our officers, less safe."

What a frigging unmitigated Brady Bunch crock of crap. :barf:

So Kansas is going to be extra special and there will be blood running in its streets when that self-same prediction has never come true in any of the other states that have CCW.

I'm glad to see we Kansans finally got the bill passed. Election years do have their advantages.
Now, will I get my permit when the law takes effect? Maybe, maybe not. That's the beauty of a CCW state. I now have a choice and the bad guys don't know if I am exercising that right.;)

Phil Journey is the legislator who introduced the bill. Phill Kline is the attorney general.

I guess the fact that I just recently moved here is no excuse for a stupid post.:o

Phil Journey was the proponent and he is a lawyer - at least I got that part right.

Phil Journey is also a Past President of the Kansas State Rifle Association. He had to resign from that office when he became a State Senator. Had to avoid conflict of interest, you know. :D

Phil Kline, the Attorney General is also an attorney and he also believes in the Bill of Rights --

Two very good men! :)

It was reported that some of our police officials now feel like every traffic stop will have to be treated as though there are weapons involved. Like they haven't been doing this already. Silly me, I guess all the wanna be "cop killers" are going to line up for their permits. It is rediculous some of the knee jerk reactions that are being flung around.

I called every legislature, and state senator that voted against it, and pleaded with them to reconsider. Many told me the platform they ran on was to not go along with it. I can respect that. Imagine a politician that sticks to their word. I am glad that we had enough people of reason to see through all of the flawed arguments against it.

Yep. The same statement was used by the anti's in Michigan and just about every other state that voted on right to carry. It's an old, worn out argument that never held water. Congrats on finally gaining back some of your rights. Things will settle down soon enough.

Kewl!

More congrats. It is nice to see the right to carry legislation catching on. Hopefully, soon, more will win. Next, how about 50 state reciprocity and RTC in National Parks.
