Is the M&P an elite pistol?

For the OP: there is no such thing as 'elite' in the way you are thinking. It is an entirely artificial and useless bit of status-seeking.

The M&P is, like the equivalent Glock, Sig, Ruger, Beretta, etc., is a durable, reliable service weapon. That's all you need to know.

M&P no.If you want a striker fired gun buy a Sig P 320 better trigger than a M&P or Glock more accurate than a M&P.The P320 is good to go right out of the box.

No.

Neither are Glocks, Sigs, or any other widely circulated pistols.

An "elite" would be something like a Rohrbaugh; very expensive and low production.

Me?

I'm no elitist. I have an M&P.

The last "elite" striker fired pistol was the H&K P7M8 and M13.

The current crop of plastic ones, from all makers, are on a continuum from "totally unshootable crap" to "barely acceptable if someone else is paying for it."

This is a Elite GUN

It's always a hoot when Gats comes out of the woodwork.

Do tell. . .which latter day striker fired pistol is "elite?"

None of them are special. They are all duty guns with widely variable, and mostly vague, trigger pull characteristics—all of which pale in comparison to the best trigger pulls of hammer fired handguns.

"Elite pistols" is BS. If you believed that kind of hype, every department
and the military would be using Hk.

M&P's are good guns. They have a couple of weak points if you run them
hard (20,000+ rds per year). Trigger spring, extractor, I've seen broken
trigger bars and the occasional stock guide rod disintegrate. ANYTHING
will break if you run it hard enough. You mentioned CZ---Trigger return
springs (which are a B$#ch to change out) Slide stop pins, extractor
springs---I carry spares for all.

I'm sure the M&P will serve your department well. S&W gave them a great
price and promises of copious after sale support--what could go wrong?

Just an observation---I've seen several departments that went to M&P
switching away from it. The current sweetheart seems to be the
SIG P320.

What makes would you consider to be the most robust with few or no weak spots?

I ask because I'm noticing a lot of police agencies are going to the M&P, my department being one of them at the first of the year. I'm just curious on where the gun stands amongst the "elite" handguns

They bought them because they got a low price deal - no other reason; which is the same reason Glocks became so popular.

I never claimed any of them are elite. I just find your descriptions both entertaining and matching your previous contributions on similar such threads.

CZ = Elite?

LOL.

Anyone want to take a guess what the Czech Special Forces carry when they head to a warzone?

Times have changed ! Please do not use Ivy League schools as "elite" .A bit of research will show that they no longer educate , they indoctrinate!

In mass produced items like guns elite guns would be those that were selectively assembled.Picking parts that best fit the gun.
The other way to get elite is to take a pistol and carefully work , by hand, on parts until you get better functioning or accuracy .
Waiting for the company to work out the problems as the M&P trigger is another way. Of course it's an old rule to never buy an item in the first year of production !!

I don't see stock Glocks, M&Ps, or CZs as being elite in any way. They are all commodity pistols, available at a reasonable price. From a US perspective a CZ can be harder to find, but that's only because most of their products are sold overseas; besides, I don't think scarcity necessarily translates to eliteness. You can modify each to elite status by enhancing performance or aethetics, or find an elite clone manufacturer (eg, Sphinx for the CZ).
