For decades now, Santa and family members know not to get me guns as gifts. Because gifts are special things (even the ones you don't really like), and should not be sold, traded, or thrown away. At least if there is even the
remotest possibility that the gift giver will ever find out!
For me, outside of family heirloom pieces, my guns are subject to change, if I feel the need or desire. SO no guns for Christmas, or birthdays, not for me.
And, by not getting them as gifts, I make sure I get the specific ones I want.
I have given some as gifts before, to people who I knew would want and cherish them as both a good gun, and a gift. And I have gotten some the same way. But those are special circumstances.
My wife didn't think snow tires for her truck was a good Christmas gift one year. She..convinced me with her...logic, and you know what? I've never bought her tires, for Christmas, ever again!
