Those tan 1/5" wide rubber bands work well. The width is a little smaller than the hammer width of most guns. I cut them to a little less than an inch in length, glue 2 together, and insert them into the hammer slot behind the firing pin. It's better than snap caps for my 9s - it's the only way I dry fire my 22 Taurus revolver.
