IRS being hung on it's own petard...

25-50% Profit? Hmmmm.

Lesson in economics:
Come up with a brilliant new idea for the slickest, everyone-must-have, made-in-Taiwan widget in the world. Between inventory cost, marketing cost, distribution cost, labor costs and tax costs......know what your markup should be for economic survival?

100% of manufacture cost.....and "manufacture" includes labor, property, plant, equipment, and taxes.....100% just to make a reasonable return on your hard work, brilliant idea and ENORMOUS RISK of being in business.

Is anyone here an entrepreneur or do we all work for a wage, assuming the owners are just raking it in?

Does nobody of intelligence read Ayn Rand anymore?

Does nobody of intelligence read Ayn Rand anymore?

Those who still do get laughed at as "Randroids", and profit has become a dirty word. Prepare for gratuitous use of the word "greed" if you suggest that an entrepeneur is entitled to all the profits he can get out of the free market.

still, he MADE THE CHOICE to repeatedly rape and torture her and kill four innocent people.

I'm with you on that then, I didn't know the details of that.

I'm not out to start a religous debate either.

And the Jewelry thing, maybe my friend just has excellant sources/prices for his goods and is figuring labor, casting & finishing to the cost of materials alone for his 1000% ? He has to be competitive or he wouldn't still be in business for 30 yrs, eh?

Is there a link to the text of the courtcase where the lady won against the IRS? It'd be interesting to read.

Lawdog,

I've been looking at Nevada law. Near as I can tell, allodial title means that the money you pay, plus the interest or other income earned on that money will be adequate to pay all future tax liability of the property for a period equal to the life expectancy of the youngest titleholder of the property.

OK, reread my last post. Specifically the last portion of law quoted from Nevada which says:

NRS 361.905 Duties of state treasurer and county assessor upon issuance of certificate; payment of taxes; deficiencies.

1. Immediately upon the issuance of a certificate of allodial title, the state treasurer shall transmit a copy of the certificate to the county assessor of the county in which the property is located.

2. Upon receipt of such a certificate, the county assessor shall make a notation on the tax roll and collect no further taxes from the allodial titleholder for the property, unless the allodial title is relinquished by the homeowner or his heirs.

The important part of that last sentence is "OR HIS HEIRS". Which means no more taxes PAID inperpetuity unless the allodial title is relinquished! OR the property is SOLD!

Its called "Allodial and Patent Land Property Titles", Author unknown, Published by Prosperity Publishers c/o 17011Beach Blvd #900, Hunington Beach CA.,92647
And it was apparently self-published, as a search of over 60 million new, used, rare, and out of print books from over 60,000 sellers and over 112 book stores fails to turn up any mention of it.

Okay, so I do have a serious book addiction. Nonetheless it seems to fail on the issue of peer-review, or even ever having been sold in a retail store.

[Yes, I checked variations of the provided title.]

You didn't read far enough.

Nevada Revised Statutes 361.900

See 361.910.

To summarize, allodial title is relinquished upon the death of the title-holder. The heir of the title-holder may petition to restablish allodial title within 60 days of the death of the title-holder, and the heir must pay an amount of money to the Nevada state treasurer that will cover any differences in the tax rate since the previous allodial title was established.

Why I oppose the idea of a national sales tax

The following is a letter that I sent to Americans for Fair Tax.

Dear Sirs:

I oppose the idea of a national sales tax because it keeps the government involved in sales. One of the worst things about the income tax is that the government knows what every taxpayer makes. That is none of their business. Likewise it is none of the government´s business how much sales a business a makes.

America did not have a federal tax on the people before 1913 with the exception of a brief period during and after the Civil War. To lower government spending we should keep out of foreign entanglements, slash government spending, and replace Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid with voluntary private investment accounts. As far as taking care of the poor we can have benevolent funds set up with hospitals and clinics. No one should be forced to pay for anyone else against his will.

If push comes to shove we could have a flat annual head tax of a maximum of $100 per person between the ages of 18 and 60.

Yours in Christ,
Eric Conaway
