Inexpensive car/truck gun

Norinco 213s, their Tok in 9MM, go for less than $250 all the time on Gunbroker. I have one and it's a great gun. It's been totally jam-less and is very, very accurate.

Used Ruger SR9 or SR9C is an incredible value, and slimmer and more advanced than their previous guns such as P95s.

I will NOT compromise reliability for semi-autos, I have to be able to count on them. Based on my lesson learned with a cheap revolver (horrible Commanche III, owned less than 24 hrs), I won't compromise with any gun, actually....

In my case, I'm not interested in an inexpensive truck gun, because when I'm on the the road, that's when I MOST need a dead-nuts reliable weapon.

CDNN has LE trade in 5906 Smith Pistols for $299.99 with 1 15 round magazine, on the same page, they have the CZ 82 in 9mm Makarov for $179.99 with 1 12 round magazine along with many other pistols and revolvers that would fit into your budget. Good luck, whatever you decide on! Here's the link for the CDNN online catalog. http://www.cdnninvestments.com.

Just FYI, Ruger lists the guns' widths as follows:

P95: 1.20"
SR9: 1.27"
SR9c: 1.27"

I traded around and got this Cobra 45 acp as a boot trade !!

It accepts 1911 Mags... a little hard to charge the first round ..but feeds well afterwards..

I'd rather have a good revolver in 38spl. but this will due till I find a trade !!!

Ruger P series??? Heard good and bad, but no personal experience

Fantastic guns....I have a P97 (45 acp) and a P95 (9mm) they are keepers

Does auto insurance pay for a stolen gun or any other "personal property" not a part of the vehicle in any event...? I did not think so. Maybe I should look at my policy. Auto deductibles and coverages are typically just for vehicle damage or injury to persons unless you are talking about some other type of insurance.

I have separate insurance that covers my firearms specifically, but I do believe it's possible to set up you car insurance to cover personal property that is stolen. At least I think that's accurate in my state.

i hate to be a smart alect but isnt your lifes work> home, car, truck, boat, race car, etc worth more than the cheapest gun you can buy? bobn

It doesn't have anything to do with buying the cheapest gun. I have guns far more expensive, but expense does not always equal quality. The intended purpose is narrow and doesn't require a $2500+ 1911, it requires a reliable pistol easy to use pistol that fits in my console and that I don't mind if it scratches or rubs the finish on.

cz-82 pistols

if a cz-82 would be considered a good truck/car gun,how do you check out a used surplus pistol for safe function/mechanical issues?I have seen several for sale here locally, thinking about picking one up.

Yes, but that doesn't mean you have to put a lot of money into a gun that is going to live in a glove box or console long term and might get a few scratches in the process. There are perfectly reliable full size used revolvers that are available for well under $300.

I have a stainless steel, Taurus Model 605, .357 magnum, 5 shot, that I carry in the console, of my truck, from time to time. Yeah, it's a Taurus. I've had good luck with Taurus revolvers, over the years. I have a couple more around the house.
I carry a Ruger LCR, .357 in a belt holster or a .38 special LCR, as a pocket pistol, every day.
The Taurus , mod. 605 is about $80 or $100 cheaper than my Rugers.

A Smith and Wesson .38 for 250 sounds like a no brainer to me. Just buy it and don't look back. A stainless gun like that can be bead blasted if the finish is toast, and done cheaply. A .38 is a good caliber, one of my favorites. Reloading is cheap and easy. Accuracy should be outstanding. There is no downside.

I was introduced to the Law of Creative Hypocracy years ago by Mas Ayoob. Generally it states that, no matter how many times you tell somebody that something is a stupid idea, X number of them are going to do it anyway. Therefore, the only solution is to tell them the least stupid way to do it. While I would never leave a gun in my vehicle for any length of time if I could help it, if you're going to do it anyway then at least keep a decent gun that will actually save your life if you ever need to use it. Since the insurance deductible is $300 then consider a used 3rd gen Smith, such as the inexpensive 910 or 908. Either can easily be found for under $300, and they're every bit as reliable as a brand-new SIG or Glock. Just be sure to find a way to secure it so that a quick snatch n' grab thief can't easily take it. If it ended up on the streets being traded back and forth by gang members the $300 loss would seem quite moot.

hippocrates? He had an oath I think....

Anyway my vote goes to the sig 2022 9mm. cheap ($400 or less), reliable, holds 17 rounds with expanded mags. easy to store and hide in car.
