Decided to take my Colt XSE Government to a LEOSA qual the other day. I was also shooting a snub revolver and another pistol (.40 compact), since there was time and opportunity during the range appt.
Even though I'm a longtime 1911 owner & shooter, each time I take one of my 1911's to a range qual, training or simple practice/drills session, I'm immediately reminded why it's the easiest pistol design among my collection to shoot and use. Especially the 5-inch models. Balance, grip angle, recoil management & recovery and practical accuracy make it seem less like work and more like an exercise in simple pleasure and relaxation.
