Other than wisecracks and fashionable Bush bashing, what is it that is so objectionable in the President's remarks, and what are the better alternatives, realistic ones. I think we know there will be no Berlin Wall, shoot to kill, mine the borders. How exactly does one find and deport 11 million or more people? Who will pay for that? There will still be many illegals that will not come out into the light regardless. Making it harder to get a job and survive is a good start to removing incentives to sneak into the country.
But my problem is that we should have an immigration bill that is not some fantasy. We all know that 12 million or even 12 thousand illegals are not really going to return to Mexico to re-enter legally to the USA...it's not going to happen. Many illegals would have already been gone if we had seriously enforced employer punishments, Or if we had really secured our border years ago.
Having a bill that we all know will never be enforced is not going to help anything.
