I'm in trouble when my wife gets home!

Glock:
Can you tell us a bit more about that Walther P99 .40sw, Military OD German proof marks? I am thhinking..hmmmm is small enough, she will never notice it...

LOL, well forunately I don't have this problem. My wife is as big of a gun nut as I am. She also reloads for her .40 as much as I do. So there.....

WAX....

Try this - "I'm just borrowing it, to kinda try it out. I may trade one of my other guns for it, but I just don't know yet." After several weeks turn into months, she's used to seeing it around and the issue goes away. If she asks about the trade, just tell her that you're still looking or even that you made the trade - even up.

Ladies - pay NO attention to this post. Just the ramblings of an old husband who loves his wife of 39 years, dearly. I just don't want to "trouble her mind" with stuff like this. ;)

It is easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission ;)

Congrats on the new Sig

Hey Waxie...

however you work it out, tell her.

Your relationship will survive bad money times and toys. It will not survive deceit in any form.

"I hope it's worth it."

For your sake, I hope so to. Now repeat after me, "I'm sorry honey, this is the last one I'll ever......"

Been there more than once myself... best of luck to ya.

In Trouble?

Gee, Been there done that!
Next time don't use the charge card ;)
Funny thing about this is I just did it the other day in buying a rifle for my son for his birthday.
I didn't have one of my special checks so I used a charge card. I came home and explained to the wife what we got Jr. for his birthday, Um it was okay with her  Now she didn't have to shop for his birthday :) Oh she said it was a nice gift
Now if I would have come home doing this for myself, which I have and from past expierience, She would have raised Holy He**

Go Figure, You just can't win! :D

There is just something about that 229. I did almost the same thing yesterday. Went to the gun shop to pick up some ammo and made the mistake of asking to see the 2 tone 229. I only put it down to fill out the paperwork and count out $725. Luckily I had been saving for a few weeks, while trying to figure out my next handgun purchase.
Enjoy the new toy.

Look, guys.....I've got it all figured out. Buy what you want....after the wife bi*ches at you for a few days.... you still got what you want.:D :D :D At the most she'll nag for about a week, you still have the gun!:D :D :D
ATTICUS knows an excellent trick too!:D

personally, i would never want to or try to hide purchases from my wife. i love and trust her way too much to lie to her, or to try to hide things from her. she and i talk about what we are going to purchase, if it's over like $100. the funny thing is that when we went to the last gun show, i wanted to take $200 with me just in case i saw something, we got into a disagreement because money was tight that month. well she wound up going with me, and we spent over $1k...last time i'm taking her to a gun show, costs me too much money. *Grin*

anyway, something to think about, which is more important, the wife that loves you or an inatimate chunk of steel<polymer>, i know what my vote is think about what your's is.

Adept

I am with Adept here. Every firearm I bought was discussed with my wife ahead of time. Money is not falling from the trees and it wouldnt be fair of me to spend money without telling her. I cant complain though ... the last three guns she "made" me buy. She didnt like shooting my Buckmark so she asked me to get a Ruger for her to shoot the few times a year she joins me to the range. Then she "made" me get a shotgun on 9/11 because she didnt feel safe with only one major firearm in the house (my 9mm CZ75), though that was sound reasoning on her side. And then she "made" me buy a 10/22 for myself for Xmas this year. See .. she made me do it :)

Why feel guilty?
If the Big Guy Up Stairs hadn't wanted you to have that thing he would have issued you two X chromosomes.

or the alternative explanation....

Millions of years of evolution have deeply embedded in the male psyche the deep need to be a hunter/gatherer. Sometimes we gather Glocks, sometimes Sigs etc........

If the occassional stay gun purchase is all the old lady has to worry about, she has nothing to compalin about.

Enjoy the new addition and bravely move forward.
Actually, this would have been a great time to pick up a case of ammo on the same tab and get all the suffering over at one time.

Geez guys, what's the big deal? After all, it's only a few hundred $$, right?

Now, I'm trying to buy a new full dress Harley & slip it under the radar!

I don't think she'll believe that I fertilized & watered my 1400 Intruder & it started to grow hard bags.....

I just bought a pair of exotic amboina wood grips for my 1911. The cost was just a tad high. Ok, maybe more than a tad but less than ivories. See, I saved over $200 by not buying ivories. On top of that, I sold a pair of grips and some Glock baseplates. Hmm...looking more reasonable. Will that work? I don't know but they should arrive today and I haven't yet decided on an explanation. Yes, she will notice the new grips. She knows what my gun looks like and will notice the unbelievably beautiful amboina grips. Of course it also increases the resale value of my gun...ummm...I'm trying here...Good luck man. You'll need it too.

The proper reply in this case is "Honey, look at the nice new pistol I bought you!":D
She usually buys the ones I like before I can even calculate whetehr I can afford them.

Archie is right. Deception is bad. Throw yourself on the mercy of the court. It worked for me tonight. Had to fess up to buying more goodies than I intended, but I saved so much money! I had approval to buy what I needed, which is still true. However, how much brass does one need when it's so cheap? Can't shoot with no ammo. Got to buy brass to make same. See what I mean?

This also got me a scope, dies, powder, primers, calipers, etc., etc. Just a bargain-hunting fool, right? Then the boom drops. I see this little pistola that I just got to have. I mean no foolin', here's my money, gimme that thing, bub! My SO sees the look in my eye, and knows I'll be like a little kid in a candy store until I get it. She knows for sure when I offer to sell one I already have, since I never, ever, do this. She knows I have the most serious case of the gotta haves in the seven years we've been married.

So, I got the stuff, I got the little pistol, and I most certainly have a wife that loves me. If I had lied, I might have none of the above.

Tell her the truth. You found the gun. At the gun store. You can't take it back because all sales are final.

It's easier to tell the truth if you have a comfortable couch.:p :D
