I'm done buying ammo...for a year

Need more .22LR ammo. Only factory rounds I buy. I'll keep looking. Have enough to get me into summer. That's about it....

I figure I got enough just got off the phone with midway they were calling to see if I wanted to sell some back :eek::eek::eek:
really I'm done stockpiling, just need to restock as required.

I think all of you should stop buying ammo. You'll just shoot it up as soon as you get it. Then there will be more for me!!!! :cool: There are three kinds of precious metal one can't have enough of: 1) Gold, 2) Silver, 3) Lead.

Buy it when I see it, but lately I haven't seen any. The hoarders got it all. I have enough but right now I'm only shooting .38spl because I can reload it. I will start shooting the other calibers when I see the supply loosen up.
My co-workers have been looking for .45 but can't find any. One went to the local Walmart at 10am and the clerk told him there was someone waiting that bought the entire shipment before it was even unpacked: All calibers. Now I don't know what was in that shipment but that's still disturbing panic buying.

Last time I actually bought ammunition was during the Buy a gun or ammo day about 2 years ago. I bought a bulk box of federal 22s.
I have enough powder, primers, and brass to meet all of my needs for the duration of this administration. However, I'll need more bullets. I only have a 3-4 year supply of lead.

I only have like 100 9mm, 100 .40, 50 .223, 50 .243, and 1000+ .22LR. The real impulse buying hasn't hit this area and for the most part you can still easily get .40S&W, 45ACP, 38 spl, and .380 pretty much everywhere. 9mm runs $11 for 50 still... Some places jacked it up to $17.95 but most are keeping it around $11.25. Cabela's can't really keep ammo in stock at all but a lot of people go there because they have the biggest on hand gun collection in the state as well as around 10 aisles of nothing but ammo... the small gun shops are saviors around here.

I did an inventory last weekend and organized all ammo into labeled ammo cans. I am short 38spcl (<200) and 357. Though not a pistol, i have a great Stag AR club. No 223 to be found, gunshow, local stores, Wally World and most sources on the net. At the two sites I ordered from online, they canceled the order and emailed me that they can't keep their website up to date. Supposedly I have a 1000 rounds coming - I'll believe it when it gets here.

Three of my friends just bought their first handguns. It's scary.

People like you are the reason I can't go shooting this week. There's no decent 9mm ammo anywhere. I hope you're happy.
:mad:
:rolleyes:
;)

O.K. I'm not really mad. I just wish I had the money to build my own supply.

22lr = 1000rds
357 = 130
357 = about 30 defensive rds
9m(mak) = 150
9m = maybe 25
38 special = 0

having a very hard time finding 9mm and 38 special in the stores so will have to order online with the 9m mak.

I remember sometime in the late '80's/early '90's, someone a few miles from me was arrested, and on the local news that night, they mentioned that the local police found over 1 million rounds of ammo in the guy's house. But he was not arrested for that. He was arrested because the police found two illegal "silencers".

So, everyone around here seems to be seriously slacking compared to my neighborhood!

Done buying ammo too

I buy my practice ammo for the year based on how many rounds I intend to shoot too. I bought mine at income tax return time so I'm pretty much done buying for the year unless I come across an extra good deal on some.

I usually try to keep about 200 rounds per hand gun half JHP and half FMJ. I keep more for rifles and shotguns since they are more useful if the "BIG ONE" ever hits.
