Blame it on Chicago
I live, own guns and hunt in Illinois. The FOID card is a joke. It means nothing more than that you applied for it, and met all the legal requisites.
It's all politics. Chicago's political power out weighs the rest of the state. Look at the clowns they've managed to elect as governor. Well, you can't look at them unless you want to visit a prison.
Sooner or later the politics will change and Illinois will be a free state again. In the mean time the FOID card is an annoyance.
Concealed carry is another matter, but I don't know that I would CC even if I could. Or at least not without some training.
