I don't suppose anyone here would care to go out with the only other president besides T.R. who wrote about hunting?

I'd like to hunt with James Madison before he introduced the Bill of Rights. Just to ask him to make that second one just a little more clear. Something like:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Shall not be infringed, not even a little bit, and we really mean that."

I think Obama's mind could be changed on firearms. He doesn't seem to be one of those politicians who puts gun control in place for political purpose, I think he really believes it.

Obama is more relaxed than Reagan, or either Bush when it comes to gun control.
He has relaxed restrictions and hasn't added any.

As good as he is at basketball he probably has the eyes to be a great shooter.

Except for adding the multiple purchase notification in the border states. And what restrictions has he relaxed? I know we got carry in national parks, but that was Bush.

My first choice would be Washington, while he was a young man, in Western Pennsylvania, and in the company of his scout and companion Christopher Gist.

My second choice would undoubtedly be Teddy Roosevelt.

Jimmy Carter? I'd leave him in the truck.

Love this thread.

I'm restricting myself to guys who are alive, though, or otherwise I'd just list "all of them," as I'd love to compare.

So...

Obama. As he strikes me as a smart, funny guy, and I'd dearly love to see what a sitting president is like in a fun setting with no microphones, reporters, etc., around.

Bush the Elder. I always liked him, and I admire his background. It would be a bonus if he'd say what he thought about being president...the pressures, the viciousness that is politics.

Clinton. More for the after-party. I know people who've been around him in private settings and say that the cat can flat talk and make jokes for hours.

Barrack Obama is a food comes from the freezer, over educated, city boy. Probably never ate anything he caught or killed himself, shot a gun or rode a horse. A week of hunting, shooting, fishing and riding might change the way he thinks on a lot of things.

It would be an honor to introduce him to such realities.

Many of the current presidents or candidates were 'city' spoiled boys - including those who postured that they were tough guys on ranches that their advisers told them to buy for image.

They go shoot a birdie with an O/U shotgun to claim RKBA creds. Like to see one shoot IPSC or IDPA, etc.
