LOL, Teddy Roosevelt was a LOUSY shot. And I don't keep secrets well.

It would be Ol'Dwight D. or Thomas Jefferson, I'd hang out with.

Not Lincoln - he sacrificed the Republic to save the Union and I'd have no stomach for the discourse.
+1

I too went w/ Thomas Jefferson.

Thomas Jefferson said:
"As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives [only] moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion to your walks."
That's a man I can relate to.

I have to throw in a "write in" vote.
I would love to have been able to have a campfire chat with Herbert Hoover and maybe understand his era a bit better.

I went with G-dub. Didn't agree with ALL his policies and decisions, but he seems to be a down-to-earth sort of guy who I'd enjoy hanging around with. Don't really know if he's a shooter or not, but I expect he'd enjoy some serious plinking out on the ranch. And when we were done with the gun stuff we'd go mountain biking :D

Other: Not a president though, I want to go goose hunting with John Kerry so I can see him shut his finger in the breech again. :D

Good Old Teddy Roosevelt

The man was quiet the sportsman and realized the american frontier was being gobbled up. He signed the first national parks legislation if I remember.

Andrew Jackson.

Why? He's the only president to ever have his bodyguards pull him off of a would-be assassin. That, and I would love to see the old general would think of modern weapons and warfare.

I felt the need to say George Washington in part because so many people (as expected) are saying Teddy. So I voted for him. But I would love the chance to meet either. Both were outstanding men.

I do have to agree with those saying Obama - the chance to show him what we are really all about would be something I would not want to pass up.

Those of you who think spending time with President Obama would offer you an opportunity to "enlighten" him ought to consider that a conversation with him might enlighten YOU- it would give you an opportunity to see who he is and what he thinks straight up, without all the shades, agendas, distortions, bigotry and hatred put there between him and the people by so many in the media.

See, that's the thing, I'm already a bit left of center, so I suspect President Obama and I would already be on the same page on a good number of things. I strongly doubt he has much if any personal experience with firearms, however, and I figure if that could change, his outlook may too.

FDR. Granted, it would be bench shooting I suppose. But, after finishing up the book about Carlson's Raiders I admire that man even more. He was a huge influence on the Marine Corps of today, and would love to converse with him about that and WWII.

I would have three choices, myself. The way that I thought about it was "who would I want to have a beer with" rather than "who do I want to spend a formal afternoon hunting game with ridiculous wigs on?"

So, my choices are thus, and why:
Obama - I know a lot of people hate him for absolutely no reason, but I want to sit down and have a lengthy chat with him, especially since he's a Chicagoin and we could talk about the city.
H. W. - I've always found him intriguing. There's always been something about H.W. that I've always admired, even though I'm a staunch liberal. And I'd love to spend some time getting to know the guy.
W. - just to give him some encouragement that things get better. The man was crapped on worse than any president before him and I'd like to sit down and let him know that there are left wingers that don't hate him.

JFK.... but ONLY if he'd bring his girlfriend along too. :D Hell, he could stay home.... I would rather just go with her alone.

I'd have to take Washington I guess.
