If you could only own two guns?

This is an agonizing question but after a review of all of the options, I agree that the optimum compromise would be a reliable pump 12 gauge and a reliable .22 rifle. You could cover all of the bases with this combination up to 100 yards. This would be for a general survival scenario.

If it hit the fan and it became a defensive situation, then the optimum combo would be a concealable folding stock AK47 and a 12 gauge pump.

Ah, but which two?

Since this is posted in the rifles section, I'm guessing I can keep all my pistols, but that shotguns count, because they're (mostly) long :D

1) Savage 110F .30-06
2) Remington 870 12g (and my assorted barrels)

Only two? Without a doubt my mossberg 620k 22mag and my rem 700 3006. I do love the idea of the contender, encore choice though...thinking outside the box.

Really hard....

Man that is hard. I'm not sure I can do just two.
1. A nice .22LR (I have an old Rem 511 that is a laser, but I'd love a cz 452)
2. 870 Wingmaster with a set of barrels for bird and deer

On top of that, a rifle between 6.5 and 8mm, and a handgun.

This goes against my basic premise, that every law abiding home should have 5 guns:

center fire rifle
shotgun
center fire handgun
22 rifle
22 handgun

Some may think this is overkill, but I think its basic. You fill in the action type, caliber and brand of the above 5 and there isn't much you can't do with a gun that needs doing. Sorry, two guns is insufficient by three guns.

But if forced, my two would be a Glock 20 with a 40 S&W barrel and 22 conversion kit and a Remington 870 pump gun with 20 and 30 inch smoothbore barrels and a rifled slug barrel.

Want to change my vote from 870 and 10/22.

To 17 shot 9mm handgun for defense and savage shotgun/rifle combo for hunting. This after watching the "out of the wild" TV program.

How to use if only two?

Marlin 60 semi-auto with Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40 scope (for food and economy of ammo)

Mossberg 12-guage 535 with 3.5 Mag chamber (for protection).

otherwise...

High Standard Sport King .22 semi-auto (for food and economy)

PX4 Storm 40 cal with Hornady Critical Defense rounds (for protection).

rough choice.

Remington 870 12ga
&
Glock 17

almost chose the Rossi Wizard, you can get TONS of different barrels from centerfire rifle to shotgun and even BP. But, that's not really in the spirit of the thread to own 10 different barrels :)

I would hate to part with all of my guns, i'm afraid i would have to burry my gun safes in the backyard, and when i need one, i get the shovel, but on a serious note; i would keep my ar platform in .300 remington short action ultra magnum, and my mp5 kurz for an everyday carry:cool:

spare me

Spare me from that, but ....since this is the rifle forum:

-a .22 lr, likely a Ruger 77/22

-a medium bolt, likely an 06' or .308, make dependent on price.

Both would be topped w/ fixed power Leupolds. 4 and 6x respectivley.

That would suit me up to elk/moose size game, though I'll likely never get to hunt either.
