If you could only have one firearm

I would break out in a cold sweat if I had to choose just one. If I could chhose one rifle and one hangun I would want a .308 semiautomatic rifle and a S&W N frame .357 Magnum. IF it absolutely had to be just one, I woild make it the .308.

Eliminating the "morning after the holocaust" scenario and just deciding on a "firearm for defense", I'd go with a Springfield Cmdr in .45 ACP.

Fusby, I dunno if we can allow the Quad .50-- shouldn't that count as 4 guns?

All of y'all who're picking more than one aren't playing properly! ;)

(3rd rule of a gunfight: "Cheat!")

I would take my M1A with a removable scope mount and a good scope. If my wife could have one too, she would carry a CAR-15 with a red dot scope. See, I didn't cheat and pick two. ;)

I agree with Mr. McMillan. Those of you that picked handguns are going to be in deep doo-doo against some ol' boy with nothing more than a .30-30! Handguns have their pupose, but in a one gun senario, I would take a Ruger 10/22 over a .44 Auto Mag. Was it Col. Cooper who said "A handgun is used to fight your way back to your rifle."?

Hmm, depends on the situation on WHY I would only have one gun. Here's three enviroments.

1.If I was stranded like Chaz Heston in "Planet of the Apes", I would go with a Remington 870 12 guage (He went with an M1 carbine and 50 rounds).

2. If I was driving/walking down Slauson here in L.A., and the riots broke out, I'd want a G-18 with a couple 33 rounders.

3. If I was living in a state of anarchy, constantly under attack, a select-fire G-3 would suit me fine.

Presuming total breakdown of civilization, martial law, or any other similar nightmare,
I'd have to go with a scoped M-1. Kill one or two from a distance and then run away.

Otherwise, it's a toss-up between my .58 rifled musket and my .357 Martini-Henry

Well if it's after IT HITS THE FAN, I won't care if its concelable or not.

My SGW AR-15 Eliminator 16" carbine with full handguard and A-1 stock along with their US GI 22 LR conversion.
Good offense/defense with the 223 and great for small game or major ammo carry in 22LR.

Well if I'm limited to one weapon then it is evident that SHTF.

So that will leave out the neccessity for anything concealable.

My choice is my SGW AR-15 Eliminator with the US GI 22 LR conversion they sell.

The 223 is great as an offense / defense weapon and the 22LR is an excellent small game getter.

Well, since I take the original question to mean in a NOT-SHTF scenario, but in my actual current daily life, for defense purposes, I would have to go with something carryable and concealable, so a handgun rather than my 870. The handgun could double as home defense arm, but the shotgun can't double as a carry arm, so I would choose a Glock 29 in 10mm with an additional barrel in .40 s&w. But if it was a SHTF scenario, many of the rifles mentioned would make fine choices.

Lp, I dont know its only has one trigger....besides Id carry it in a "deep concealment horsehide by Andy Artonnian (sp), along with speed loaders..lol..fubsy.

I wont be running anywhere..lol..fubsy.
