If you could only choose ONE single stack 9...

Too mamy to pick one. Most any currently prpducrd single stack 9MM would be fine. I will say howevet that if I were limited to pnly having my Kahr CM 9 I would be OK with that.
(Subject to chage after I get some serious range time with my Remington R51).:D

Still don't fully understand the question.

Is it A or B below (or something else)?

A) You are allowed one firearm total, and it must be a 9mm single-sack?

or

B) You are allowed one single-stack 9mm within your otherwise extensive collection of pistols and revolvers?

It makes a large difference.

Kahr K9. I have a K40 and the fit to my hand is excellent. While a 1911 will easily trump it for accuracy, it's accuracy is more than adequate for defensive use.

Walther PPS. I own the original version and love it.

Very thin which makes it very easy and comfortable to conceal. It is a bit on the heavy side at 21.5 ounces weighing only two ounces less than a Glock 19 empty because it has a steel sub frame that includes the serial number and larger steel rails for the slide to ride on instead of little steel tabs in the poly frame. But because of that it is a very durable, soft shooting, and very accurate for it's size. Trigger is just right for it's purpose IMO and a nice and crisp 6 LBs. it also has a striker indicator that protrudes through the rear of the slide that can be used as an indicator of trigger movement when the pistol is being holstered. I typically conceal mine with the 7 round magazine but the 6 round magazine is nice for deep concealment.

Kahr K9. Hands down. If more shooting than carry, Kahr T9.
The T9 is really an outstanding handgun.
Next option, Sig P239 DAK trigger for me.

I'd have to go with a SIG P938. Every time I shoot mine I'm impressed with how accurately I can shoot it so it's great for range time. It's become my favorite carry gun as well.

BP9CC from Bersa. It's already on my list of ASAP guns. I just like it better than any of the other single stack 9s I have tried out. In fact, it is likely to replace my current EDC once I get it, assuming it passes reliability testing.

I should point out that I took this question a little differently and assumed I was allowed one single stack 9 and whatever other firearms I had. So I was willing to give up a lot of things. If that single stack 9 is my only firearm it is going to be a 1911 Officer or possibly Commander length.

I have three single stack 9s; a SIG P938, S&W 539, and Husqvarna Lahti.
Only the first is currently in production, and while it's a great pistol, proportional to both its power and capacity levels, it's an awfully small gun to use for anything but concealed carry.
If I were going to go with something larger, for better ergonomics, I'd want more rounds, too.
Though I'm a "1911 guy", I'm no fan of 9mm 1911s.
Definitely fun to shoot, but flunks the size/power/capacity test.

EDIT: I briefly had a Walther CCP, and while I like the feel, and it's reasonable as both a carry and range gun, a lot of problems have been reported with them - I had the mag drop in mid-string - and they have recently been recalled by Walther for some mechanical glitch.

I agree with most here. My two favorite to carry are the Sig 938, and a Kahr PM9 with big dot sights. Fit my hands great, and very accurate.

Dan Wesson Guardian in .38 super (its close to 9mm, right?).

I don't have a use for any of the small single stacks (Glock 43, Shield, etc) as my Glock 26 fits that bill perfect and I don't need/want anything slimmer.

What is the reason why you would put the stipulation "If we could only choose one"? Does that mean we would only be able to own that one gun? In that case, it would have to be one that I could conceal carry, which is my Glock 43. I have a Springfield Loaded, which is a stainless 1911 single stack in 9mm, and I love shooting it, but I can't carry a gun that big or heavy. That this is a dream to shoot.

Maybe, just maybe, the OP lives in a state where capacity is limited and is in a state of financial limitation as well.

Or, maybe this is yet just another mental exercise to see what folks say..........

I'll be the oddball and say my Keltec PF-9. It does everything I need it to do. And it does it reliably and accurately. It may fall short a beauty contest though.

I don't disagree, but I think technology has its merits, thus I want to remove the Luger's and P38's from the mix.

Well, that leaves me completely out, because the only single stack 9mms that I own are Lugers, and a P.38.

I guess, in your eyes, they have no merit??

I'll help you spend your money,

Springfield Armory EMP
Glock 43
Sig p239

If it were me I would stick with my S&W 3904 or 3906.
