I thought Ron Paul did pretty good tonight

Considering he got asked maybe 5 questions while most of the spotlight was on Guliani and McCain (two neoconartist knowitall superficial weazels). The rest was just kissing up to the audience and giving "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "America the Beautiful" speeches (I could almost hear those tunes playing in the background). When Paul talked (and even Tom Tancredo some particularly about immigration) it was thought out, worth hearing, and like a teacher talking.

I thought he did well, too. I do think his stage presence could be better, as he tends to come across as a bit high-strung. But he's definitely saying the right words and speaking the plain, bitter truth, as opposed to the sugarcoated lies of the neocons. Alas, the more neoconservatism is discredited, the more crazy and bloodthirsty the neocons seem to become.

Nuking Iran?! I'm glad Paul spoke up strongly on that one. Here you have a bunch of people who are supposedly pro-life (except Giuliani), and they're talking about a "preemptive" nuclear strike! That's just sick. If I remember correctly, one candidate even said that Iran had threatened to attack the US, which is a lie.

LMAO! I know exactly what you mean. They were catering to the flag-worshippers and the "America can do no wrong," "more patriotic than thou" types.

I think it's pretty hard not to see that the MSM is actively trying to silence RP and the other 'second tier candidates'. Look at the questions and amount of time they give them compared to what they give all 'front runners'. The only thing that makes them the front runners is money. The one guy was right in calling them the kennedy branch of the republican party.

I love how Benito Giuliani is suddenly all about the free market and the constitution, and how there were repeated lightning strikes when he was talking. That was funny. :D

CNN did poor job - they dont even try to hide the fact that they only want to focus on Romney, Giuliani and McCain. Those three had their podiums front and center and the camera stayed there most of the time. What a joke. At least they intermixed the candidates in the other debates.

Tancredo seems to have a problem carrying through on long sentences.

I thought the positions were randomly drawn.

I liked huckabee just from what I heard, but I do not know his stance on firearms legislation (or the preference to NOT legislate) so I can't make a descision yet. Anyone know?

Sign from God he was lying

Supports self-defense and `castle doctrine'. (Jan 2006)
Allow concealed carry. (Nov 2002)

Here's a good place to find out about things like this and where I got those:

I watched all of it and was really impressed with Huckabee.

I was really impressed with Paul also. Too bad he is unelectable because he speaks his mind instead of what people wanna hear.

McCain enforced my despise for him.

Romney enforced my despise for him.

The lightning was an annoyance for sure.

I loved how, even admitting their different feelings on things, they didn't attack each other. Unlike the DEM debate where they went at each other like jackels.

Did anyone see the last DEM debate where Gravel was going after everyone like a drunken, enraged mad man? LOL:D

My favorite was when Mr. Paul was talking about "policing the globe". He got cut off of course by dip stick and was too much of a gentleman to be so rude as to cut Wolf off.

I was too, I don't really think he would be a good choice for president but he really knocked that evolution question out of the park. He also gets points for calling out blitzer for skipping him.

I think this was really the worst thing about this debate, my guy needs people attacking him to get attention, I think they realized this and won't do it anymore because it backfires.

We need someone like this in these debates, they need their feet held to the fire and this is exactly what Gravel does with the democrats. Their are many reasons to be very angry and confrontational with these politicians, someone needs to do it. I wish we could count on the media to do these things. :(

I also thought he did a great job of saying that not everyone in this country is not a Marxist, God hating, secular.

I meant, that instead of attacking each other, they "agreed to disagree". It showed ten times more class and respect than the DEMS "attack on site" strategy IMO.

LOL I totally agree! If I was a DEM, Gravel would be my man for sure! I feel Paul is the REP Gravel. Speak the truth! Consequences be damned!

Same order. I thought Huckabee really woke up this time. And it might just be me, but I thought Giuliani self-destructed.

Rudy Giuliani 45%
Mitt Romney 14%
John McCain 14%
Ron Paul 12%
Tommy Thompson 5%
Mike Huckabee 4%
Tom Tancredo 3%
Duncan Hunter 2%
Sam Brownback 2%
Jim Gilmore 1%

Paul did VERY good in this AOL poll. Although the know-it-all blabbermouth kissup RudywhothrowsallhiswordtogetherlikeWildAlaskasohecansayasmuchaspossibleandtalkovereverybodyelselikethearrogantNooYoakerheisGiuliani clearly won the debate. That gaseous nonsense Abe Lincoln speech about what "it is to be an American" made me want to puke twice (once for Gullianai and once for Lincoln) (another Battle Hymn of the Republic moment, ad nauseam)

giuliani seemed to me to be full of himself as usual and almost expected to be the republican nominee. I mean after all, he IS the governor of NY and he WAS there for 9/11 :barf:

he IS the governor of NY

Oh, right. He's the governor of a "major" state or "real" state as opposed to a peon nothing state of Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, Mississippi or Idaho. That's how those Yankee's think (using the term in the original meaning http://www.lewrockwell.com/wilson/wilson12.html )

By Yankee I do not mean everybody from north of the Potomac and Ohio. Lots of them have always been good folks. The firemen who died in the World Trade Center on September 11 were Americans. The politicians and TV personalities who stood around telling us what we are to think about it are Yankees. I am using the term historically to designate that peculiar ethnic group descended from New Englanders, who can be easily recognized by their arrogance, hypocrisy, greed, lack of congeniality, and penchant for ordering other people around.
Prof. Clyde Wilson, University of South Carolinia

Regarding Ghouliani, what I always say about him is that I thought heroes were declared by others, not by themselves.

And Doug? You're wrong, there. The only "yankees" left are some people in NH, small villages in Maine and Vermont who are truly Goldwater conservatives, patriotic, and pro-2A. They have streets named for people like Daniel Webster, and have Declaration of Independence signers buried in their graveyards...and actually know that, and care about that fact.

Yankees are conservative, stubborn, private, and care about their personal liberties...and hate meddlers who come in and tell them how things should be. They want to be left alone. They'll say good morning to their neighbors with a smile, but cast a suspicious eye on newcomers for a bit. Yankee towns still have a white-steepled church in the middle that still rings its bells, not one that's been converted to an alternative-lifestyle coffeehouse.

I personally think we would use more of those. What you're talking about is what we call "M*ssholes", because so many of them seem to live in Massachusetts. They're mean, arrogant, hypocritical leftists who treat people from small villages as if they're some sort of museum exhibit...when not cutting them off on the road.

Sounds like what you are talking about is what is left of the old Puritan heritiage (the type of folks up north that are good Americans as Dr. Wilson put it). Yankee, from outsiders, (Pennsylvania Dutch, New Yorkers, Midwesterners and later Southerners) seems to be historically a term of disgust. For unperverted Puritans, it was embraced as a nickname and source of pride, when it wasn't even refering to them, but for the disgusting Boston and Conneticut clowns that surrounded them.

Well. The only Yankees hated here with religious fervor are the NY baseball team. Everyone hates the Yankees, their father hates the Yankees, their grandfather hated the Yankees...

The only time I'd ever seen someone wearing a Yankees cap, it earned a remark from someone nearby of "Who crapped on yah head?" :D
