I think we are all overlooking something potentially really great.

Now if you were to neck 9x23 down to .32 and use a low grain bullet...

As I said earlier this all sounds very interesting...

So even if it was an advertisement, advertise away! :D I'm learning new stuff!

As was said earlier, the lack of an economical gun to shoot it out of is probably what hurts it. A caliber chambered only in $2000 guns is going to be shot only by the truly hardcore, and I don't know if that is enough to get the ammo companies to really push it.

How about a Ruger P97 in 9x23? Being a Ruger, it should be strong enough to handle the round and cheap enough for my fellow proletarians to buy. ;)

I've read this thread, and I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want a 1911 in 9x23 when 10mm is availible. I can get more performace from 10mm with less pressure and have a bullet with a greater diameter. Whats the point? One extra round?

Boys and their toys! :)

In the 1911, the 9x23 is pretty damn good. Gamers will/do like it. Should stop bad guys damn good too. But it ain't going anywhere for the same reasons the 10mm didn't after the 40S&W came out? The 357 will top the 9x23 for the same reasons the 40S&W is more popular than the 10mm? The 357 Mag was more popular than the 41 Mag for LE?

For all "practical" purposes (LE, defense) the 357SIG and 9x23 are peas in a pod, and the 357 is available in the platforms that sell the most to cops, and people want what the cops have?

Civilian sales are gonna follow LE, and the 9mm platforms rule, not 1911s or the other 45s, hence the 40/357 for those who want more than the 9 and a smaller gun, not the 9x23.

Personally, I'd rather have the 9X23 than the .357Sig. I can't find a single-stack .357 Sig that fits my hand well, I hit better with a 1911 than most other weapons, and for the same size mag, I get an extra round. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.
