I Spell Perfection, R.E.M.I.N.G.T.O.N.

If you really want to impress us, put that dime in the middle and surround it with adjacent silver dollars before you shoot... better yet gold eagles... ;)

J/K, nice shooting

Which of the gun's three bullet activators did you use? Release the safety, bump the bolt handle or did you stick with the traditional old fashioned trigger pull?

Chettt

I've found that my R700 is more accurate if I just step away from the bench and let it do its thing. :p

Now go derail a Glock thread with a Kaboom question.

I thought this would be a good place to show my son's skill with his own Remington 700 Police. He purchased his R700P a week after I bought mine.

This is a video of my son and the result from Sunday's range time.

100-yard pressure shot...

My son's R700P is also topped with an inexpensive scope, but not quite as cheap as dad's. His is the Simmons Whitetail 6.5x20 - 50mm with a reticle that seems as wide as a couple of crossed pencils... He hates it, and will replace it with better glass when funds allow.

He shot a couple of dimes, but those wound up in the dirt berm as well. Like father... Like son. :)

I am beginning to understand why the 700 Police is the only Remington with a MOA guarantee. These rifles just plain rock!

I couldn't help but notice that you defaced US currency by shooting that quarter. I am going to have to confiscate that gorgeous rifle. I'll PM you my FFL guys info.

That's hard to do, put a clean shot through a dime. Good shooting.

I play around with things like that too. The bet was one shot each from two different rifles (243 Win, 25-06 Rem) at a distance of 150 yards. The holes could not touch. It won me a bunch of beer.

I thought that since a one .308 hole looked so nice, I would just have to try two.

I took two dimes and taped them to my cardboard on the backstop. The first dime split on the second shot, but the last dime came out quite well... Not quite as impressive as yours phylodog. This is a pair of shots at 100 yards in the center of a dime. I didn't risk a third shot, so as not to split this dime as well. Dimes can only take so much abuse from a .308 bullet.

I think I'll stop abusing dimes, although abusing Roosevelt feels pretty good.

Here's something else we do at the range.

The first shot has to be in the 10 ring and then you put as many additional holes in the target as you can. No two bullet holes can touch and we rotate shots between shooters. The target on the left was a winner. The target on the right was a loser because my last bullet hole combined with another one. The sun was in my eyes, it was too windy, global warming affected mirage, the stock market dropped, Obama woke up with a pulse ... and any other excuses you can think of that made me miss. Notice my dime does not have a hole in it. I'm too cheap.

I think I'm too cheap to shoot at money.

I would normally be too cheap as well, but the beauty of firing at a dime, is that it is the smallest of the US coins and is a standard size that everyone recognizes. I also see it as 10% of the cost of the bullet that hit it. :)

I'll try some of your reindeer games the next time all my rifle friends get together.

I just had to post what is now my best group yet from my R700P.

This group is actually the first 3 shots of the day from a truly cold barrel... 38° F chilly. My POI was a tad low and right from my last range session due to the huge difference in wind, humidity and temperature.

I tried a new program that another forum member suggested for graphically measuring the MOA. I also double checked the measurement with calipers and it is dead on. (I hate the crappy image quality from the new program.) This 3-Shot group measures a tiny 0.133 MOA at 100 yards, and is now my personal best from this three and a half week old rifle. I can't wait until it is really broken in. ;) The wind today was nearly calm, which is a real pleasure, given that most days since I purchased the 700P have been well over 10mph.

Color me happy once again.

Beep... Beep... Beep....
Public Notice! No dimes were harmed in the making of this target... Now back to your regularly scheduled Program.

A few have asked me to show a 5-shot group, so I decided to oblige. The wind picked up quite a bit today (16mph), but I still managed to get a decent 5-shot group between the gusts.

0.309 MOA felt pretty good. It may not break any records, but I'm pleased. The entire group disappears under a dime, so I didn't have to sacrifice a coin to make the group. :)

What specific model Remington did you get? I searched the website and couldn't find anything under "Police". A few tactical guns but can you post the exact link?

Remington does not display the Law Enforcement firearms on their main site.

You can find all of the LE models here:
http://remingtonle.com/rifles/700.htm

Although the LE models are available to the public, Remington tries to control their distribution by limiting the outlets by which the public can purchase these firearms. In my area of Northern Indiana, only one of the five gun stores locally has a distribution agreement with Remington... The other four outlets have to jump through hoops to get them, and at a higher price.

Thanks for the link. I own one Remington. It started life as a Light Varmint Stainless Fluted (LVSF) but I replaced the synthetic stock with a Boyd's Thumbhole Laminate. I like it a lot better with the heavier stock, too much flex in the synthetic and I couldn't keep a constant POI. Mine is a 221 Fireball and it turns in some pretty impressive groups with my handloads.

wow some good shooting posted on this thread. I will post a pic of my target.............55 gallon drum at 100 yards.....hit it every time.:D
